It sounds like youre doing everything right with the soil and wetting it, covering every exposed inch of mesh and such should help a lot. Dont use a heat mat, they struggle to effectively heat the air and can burn animals very easily. Get a dimming thermostat like the (reptizoo pid one for example) and set the probe a couple inches above the soil under the heat lamp and see if you can get the temp to the 88-92 range. If not you may need a higher wattage bulb. Che or dhps are good as they dont emit light so they can stay on 24/7.

It happens, it can be a lot learning all the proper information. The subreddit menu has a lot of very detailed, research based care guides. Reptifiles is great too.

Of course, also i see so your other comment so no worries about the light! From the photo it looked like it was somewhere in the tank so thats my bad! Id recommend more clutter like more hides, fake plants and whatnot. If it were me id also add some finer substrate like coco fiber or organic topsoil to whatever you have in there now (coco chips?). 2 or 3 digital hygrometer/thermometers inside the tank would be helpful too. there is always a lot to learn when it comes to exotic pets so i get it. Besides this sub, reptifiles is great too for BP and other species’ care.

Not what (actual) feminism is, but okay.

Sick! I love HU!
Ferrets are known to wear down and chip/break their teeth on the water bottles, it even happened to one of my childhood ferrets. While talking to my vet recently she also agreed the bottles arent good due to the teeth issue and the effort it takes to get hydrated. maybe ok as a backup option in case the water bowl gets spilled or some such she said but otherwise they really should have a bowl for water.
