DisastrousChapter841
How do you value at your what you contribute of to the workforce?
DisastrousChapter841
I thought this exact thing!!
DisastrousChapter841
Lol. Was undiagnosed adhd. After years of getting in trouble for talking or doing something else like doodling--which has been proven to increase the ability to listen, but whatever--when the teacher was talking, in high school I just started straight up dissociating if my brain wouldn't engage. And that was for most classes like math, English, humanities, history, etc. There were exceptions like Spanish, chemistry, hands on courses, or when the teacher was actually enthusiastic about teaching.
In math, I walked into class, coat on, backpack on, and sat down like that, backpack still on and all, and then just went away mentally. And then I'd just go home and try to learn from the textbook.
But I was never diagnosed because my mom didn't believe in... well, mental health

There was a saying: "a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush"
And it's true. Idealism is good and all but being practical is also something to consider.
DisastrousChapter841
I was babysitting the neighbor's 3 kids when I was in middle school, so yeah, about 12 years old in 1998. It was for about 3 hours max by myself, if it was longer, my friend/other neighbor would come help. The kids were 3, 5, and 7.

Before commenting I gave it a read despite thinking this. It was... not good.
She seems to lack self awareness and the courage to actually speak to women's issues in a real way. She has a history of speaking to "women's issues" but only when it's in self defense, that is instead of responding as an "I" when she read an article criticizing her, she'll say that it's about gender.
But then she admits that she doesn't think gender inequality is tech isn't a big deal.
"To me, gender fades into the background. I talk about passion as a gender neutralizing force."
She repeats a variation of the "gender is a thing but not important" line a couple times, at one point saying gender equality will "come in time," immediately following that with "I'm an optimist" as explanation. .... ugh
There were some interesting observations that I'm glad the author added such as the office looking like a kid's room and you wouldn't necessarily know it wasn't save for some bs ai quotation sign, and that she must be dealing with cognitive dissonance.

Ah, so clearly the chosen Woman to represent us all...
(/s obviously)
DisastrousChapter841
And the fact the headline was essentially a repeat of all the other ones asking if one single woman-- who one could have expected to be out of touch when it came to the experiences of normal women--can fix the experiences of all the other women.
The fact that someone wrote that headline should have embarrassed them. Unless it was a sardonic sort of thing--doubtful--but wtf were they even thinking. ( then again, I know headlines are supposed to draw people in but still.)

Tell that to the girls who weren't allowed back at my house after I played this for them at my first birthday (6th grade) party + sleepover after moving to a new state lol.
It came out on video right before moving and I had watched it with my sisters and cousins and we loved it, so I thought I'd share it with my new friends/classmates.
Looking back, i know my mom rented this movie having to know that some of these girls would never sleep again, and that watching stuff like this probably wasn't normal for them.
DisastrousChapter841
I would have lost it lol. But I'm a millennial, and facts are facts, and that was hilarious
DisastrousChapter841
I love that your first thought was superhero. Maybe it's time; all hail Catman
DisastrousChapter841
Lol I saw that
DisastrousChapter841
Yeah this image seems to be a younger millennial thing. I am not one of those. Also, I don't see the horse from Neverending story here
DisastrousChapter841
I still sing it. Worked an event two nights ago for ..ambient lighting (?) vendors and they had an afterparty and they played this song after some choice Celine Dion dance mixes. It was fascinating
DisastrousChapter841
Or the blonde top right
DisastrousChapter841
All hail pedro
DisastrousChapter841
Of course they did. Fuck these fucking fucks
DisastrousChapter841
Sociopaths
DisastrousChapter841
I use uber eats to network all the time. Every time they drop food off, I chase them down the street pleading with them to accept my request on LinkedIn, and ask them for quotations for an inspirational post
DisastrousChapter841
I think about the music from cruisin USA a lot... the "ooh... ah" female vocals
DisastrousChapter841
DisastrousChapter841
I haven't played this game in decades and I could hear all these images
JINJO!
DisastrousChapter841
So, obviously there is a bigger topic of more concern here, but is the plural of Bigfoot Bigfeet?
DisastrousChapter841
Ooooh-- that'd be awesome -- like stationary or the flailing kind (wacky waving inflatable tube men)?
So when I saw the cat eyes, I immediately thought of the Dante's Inferno Room thing from Beetlejuice lol

Yeah. My initial thought was that dazzle is just one step up from sparkle.... then I read the description of the office. Definitely internalized misogyny and, I don't know. I just kept saying "gross" and "I hate this" while I read the article
