New Mexico:  It ain't new, it ain't Mexico.  We're fine over here.

Diesel is $6.19/gallon in Albuquerque, pendejo Donnie, why don't you change that, you demented racist cabrón?

Doggers1968

But it happens over and over and over.  Y'all need to get over yourselves, you're such hypocrites.

Doggers1968

Thanks everyone! We nuevomexicanos appreciate the solidarity!

Trump is mad at our state for suing over the Epstein files. Attorney General Raúl Torrez is a badass - he won that huge Facebook case.

Also Trump is a pendejo so whatever.

Husband and I eat on different schedules, and he's a picky eater, so we often make our own food.  Sometimes we eat together, sometimes not.  It works for us!  32 years and counting.

Oh no.  I am so, so sorry. Please call a gambling hotline STAT to see about resources for families of gambling addicts.  Also a legal hotline for a list of things you need to put in place to protect yourself.

I'm sending you a huge hug from NM.  You can handle this.

Yes. Qataris live on imported low wage (slave) labor.  They're awful.

Easy to make bitter chocolate sorbet!  You don't need a churn and it's delicious.

Hey fellow coach!  Sounds like you're doing all the right things, but I think it just takes time. I'm also launching my practice.  I have a PhD and 30 years STEM R&D leadership and management experience, very successful career, and a niche population (new leaders in STEM workplaces; it's a tough transition).  I'm working on my ACC now - should have my credential late this year. All good!

Do you have small business mentoring?  I've been working with a small business advisor who gave me a blunt truth about coaching:  first year is likely pure loss, second year I'll be lucky to break even, may have steady revenue in year 3.  Also -  and she's very conservative - I expect only 25% of all contacts to convert to paying clients; and a 25% attrition rate.  So... lots of marketing and follow-up.

As she put it, it's a long runway before you launch, but she thinks I'm on the right track and has been helpful with marketing ideas (give talks on STEM career paths, lots of free sessions to get the word out and build a reputation, thoughtful content on LinkedIn).  But I'm not expecting to bring in more that a few $K this year.

I hope it's a shorter runway for you!

Girls Rule!!!  ❤️❤️❤️

How awful.  If your wife isn’t already talking with a therapist, she should be.  I’m so sorry.

Doggers1968

I do plan to go back once they’ve cleared the inspection!  I’ve eaten there for years, ain’t stopping now.

Doggers1968

Yes he’s gross, but GOP and Trumps supporters didn’t freak out over this; the headline is clickbait.  Do a search if you don’t believe me.

u/hafree27 Thanks for the award!

I think it’s K-pop and weight loss drugs driving a lot of dysfunction, and I say this as someone who lost 80 lbs on Mounjaro.  (I remain a size 8-10, though and I’m all about modeling healthy behaviors and a positive relationship with food; making smoked salmon fettuccine with zucchini and Parmesan for dinner…)

Doggers1968

No no no.  That is horrifying.

Doggers1968

This kid is an idiot.  He also needs a lot of help.

Doggers1968

WSJ reported the same though

Doggers1968

Not much difference. They’re both too young.

This is a great question!!

So if you look at the research on social movements and political change, you are absolutely right. A protest, or even a string of protests, are not going to do much to fix anything, in and of themselves.

The trick is getting enough people involved in sustained civic engagement over a period of time, making a focused, consistent efforts toward change. Individuals each have to take collective ownership for meaningful change to happen - that’s why it’s a “collective action” problem.

Fortunately, there are many things that you can do to make this happen, and none of them are that time-consuming. You can volunteer with a local civic group. A few good ones include Common Cause, the ACLU, or Indivisible. You don’t have to commit a lot of time, either! Simply volunteering to contact elected officials, helping out at a voter registration drive, or even attending a few online meetings and networking with others… all of those things collectively make a difference.

If you want to know what I do… every week, I write all my representatives, as well as Senate and congressional leadership, about a key issue or piece of legislation. Takes a half-hour. I also donate to Indivisible and I’ll be helping register voters this summer. It’s a few hours each month! Not a huge commitment.

No one is going to change the situation for you, or for me, or for any of us. The trick is getting a lot of people to take small actions, consistently.

The rule: lowest acceptable dating age is half your current age + 7. This is for both men and women, and it works surprisingly well for all ages.

24.5 + 7 =31.5

Sooooo… He’s too young.

Doggers1968

Brand new account

Doggers1968

You young folks: keep saving! I just retired at 57.

I’ve lost a chunk of my money & expect to lose more. Thanks, Republicans! But I’m sticking with my budget and not worried, markers bounce around and I’ve got my plan. It’s pretty great!

Doggers1968

Oh noooooo there goes my waistline

Doggers1968

Reddit is weird. I laughed.
