OP said “  It seems very unlikely that they knew of his criminal activity.”

Dogwithumbrella

Kids and/ or another furry counterpart with whiskers.

Dogwithumbrella

They didn’t say that. They said that at that stage in the investigation they didn’t have enough evidence to suggest that. That doesn’t mean they thought it was politically motivated, it doesn’t mean that they didn’t think it was politically motivated. It meant that they needed to be restrained and only brief the facts. You may not agree with that approach, but that’s the approach the authorities take in these situations.

Dogwithumbrella

I thought that they had CCTV footage, didn’t they? They must at least have some idea of who they’re looking for, forensics are on it, and it doesn’t sound like he was terribly careful.

Dogwithumbrella

They’ve arrested him!

Learn your lesson, and not break the law.

The pigeons that you find on the street aren’t wild, they’re feral. Rock doves are a domestic species.

And before you respond with an obtuse “wIkIpEdIa iS nOt ReLiAbLe 🤪🤪🤪” Wikipedia lists its sources, and you have eyes and a brain cell, you can look.

Which party did Nadine Dorries belong to in 2023? Which government was in power?

This Labour government isn’t great, but blaming them for literal Tory mess is diabolical.

NAL, but PIP was replaced by Adult Disability Payment in Scotland a few years ago, and is now managed by Social Security Scotland, not the DWP.

OP should check the British Newspaper Archive.

Dogwithumbrella

NAL A side thought, but have you tried searching the British Newspaper Archive for articles relating to this man?

Good luck! It feels so unjust that a man can just remarry briefly later in life, and the new wife just takes the estate.

Eat your face off and suck out your eyeballs.

Ah ok. I see what you mean now. Well, if they’re legitimate copies you’re free to sell them on. I have an Edward Bawden print that I inherited from my dead mother. If I were to sell reproductions that wouldn’t be allowed as the copyright has been transferred to his estate, however, if I were to sell my original mono print then that would be ok.  If I were you I’d still be curious about the photographer though. You never know, it could also add some more value to the prints.

It’s a long time. My mother died in the middle of May, her funeral was the middle of June, and she was cremated weeks after that. I was actually shocked that it’s even legally allowed to be that long.

For the record, no dog is “harmless”, the amount of harm that can be done is just on a spectrum, and ALL dogs need to be kept under close control.

Of course, it’s never nice to think that any animal might be put down, but with some dogs/ owners, it’s a ticking time bomb.

It is the owners’ choice to let these big, dangerous dogs off the lead, and the outcome (whether it’s a child, another animal, or themselves losing their life) will be their fault.

Dogwithumbrella

Do you mean “neighbour”? This isn’t an American subreddit. What’s your problem with badgers? They’re normal wildlife, and I’m a little confused that you think they’re a problem. Would you also like to know about foxes and hedgehogs in the garden?

Dogwithumbrella

English because they’re in England? 😬 (the UK more generally though, I bought some in Scotland)

What absolutely baffles me is the number of women claiming to be feminists who aren’t content with simply making their own choice, but actively seek to shame other women for making a different one. No-one suffered because I took the last name of the man that I love over an awful POS who I had to suffer being my father for a number of years.

Can we not all just agree that trying to enforce a status quo and shaming personal choices is just a bit gross?

Generally speaking, if you’re out for long enough, your eyes will adjust to the gloom. However, as you get older, your ability to do this decreases.

Literally me today. I made a comment to the old lady walking the dog that it wasn’t safe, and OF COURSE she had to start screaming back at me, probably something about it being my fault (I had headphones on, and have no time for psychos). These people are unhinged.

Dogwithumbrella

What a prick.

You're completely in the wrong here. The man was responsible. He kept his dog on a lead- you didn't. Yes, your dog has some recall, but he scared the man. This is not ok.

Reactive dogs need exercise too, and it's actually illegal in the UK to have your dog 'out of control'- this carries a loose definition, which includes simply causing fear or alarm to another human or their animal.

Dogs are animals, they're coursing predators, and most will chase anything that moves because it views it as prey. This includes people- runners who do not want to be chased by your dog, and elderly people.

I know a man whose friend is now dead because a lady let her loose dog be 'friendly' and jump on the elderly man who later suffered an aneurysm and is now dead. The police are involved, and I hope they catch this awful woman and lock her up so that it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Tl;dr- keep your dog on a leash unless it is VERY well trained and will not approach strange people, dogs, or livestock.
