!remindme 3 days

I am currently renovating my house and am putting ethernet cables into my hallways exactly for your usecase, PoE wall displays.

DoktorMerlin

bring your own POS

that's not usually for big-ish festivals. There's almost no music festival anywhere in the western world that still allows vendors to bring their own POS System, you always have some kind of cashless or token based system going to the festival.

This is just AI slop, look at the people in the upper deck and compare the sizes with the stadium. The stadium is what, 20m long?

DoktorMerlin

they lifted the whole city of Chicago back in 1850. It's not uncommon

DoktorMerlin

fuck off.

  1. A YouTube review doesn't just magically show that stuff is not there. The reviews could just ignore that fact
  2. I asked about one thing, I didn't ask about all the other things that I would loose from my Pixel Watch but didn't care about. I just care about this one thing.
  3. this and other similar marketing materials on a glance heavily suggest that a spinnable bezel COULD be there. This picture I found now says stuff about health so it's clear that this is an ECG picture, but on lots of websites this stuff about health isn't there and it looks like it's spinnable
  4. you all are super hostile. Some comments that were hostile for me even asking are already deleted, saying I am stupid for asking.
DoktorMerlin

you don't smell bad if you just showered the night before, it's actually super bad for your health to shower every morning anyways. You should shower every second day and that's totally enough to not smell. Deodorant for the other days

DoktorMerlin

you will have a bad time then, because AI in it's current state will be used almost everywhere. It's a useful tool in limited cases, but gladly so far it doesn't take away any jobs

DoktorMerlin

yeah with the current state of AI, i have yet to see why I should fear my job. All applications in Software Development where AI actually helps is writing small scripts and code parts. And all use cases I have been shown are snake-oil as well.

Are they sometimes impressive? Sure. Can they replace me? Not at all. Just like someone above said, it would need a big and extensive agentic setup for every single task so that it could replace people. And in the end the tasks would take the same amount of time because instead of adding development time, you add agent setup time for every task.

I am living in Germany so this is something German specific.

we have the so called "Verbraucherzentrale", an organization helping consumers. If there are issues like this, someone illegally selling your data, they love to get the infos about it and they will sue the company on your behalf (and the behalf of others). Right now there are cases against Meta for example where you just provide them with your information regarding a Meta account and you have a pretty good chance of Meta having to pay you 1.500€-5.000€ if the case is closed.

Additionally we have the "Bundesbeauftrafte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit" (long title). Basically this is a person from the government who you can inform if there are any data privacy issues from your person. Informing this person doesn't result in you being compensated, but Amazon getting sued for GDPR related issues.
