Nah, that space is still alive and kicking, its just not in AAA anymore (and honestly, it hasn't been in over a decade)

Domin0e

Can't be an mmo, you haven't set Multiplayer to true!

Domin0e

Color me impressed this is working at all. Guess Electron, Chromium and cohorts are good for something, after all! :'D

Domin0e

Awesome. If only that'd work in the client, where I look at stuff.. ;)

Domin0e

"Team, we now have a new R&D department that's all about de- and recompilation and remixes, and whatever else comes out of those people"

Domin0e

So, as I udnerstand it, you told GPT to refactor your code? If so, AI touched your codebase, and you should disclose that.

Domin0e

We have all been there more often than we'd like to admit friendo!

Domin0e

definitely looks like an audio interface. Probably for an XLR microphone I'd assume which is off-screen on its boom arm.

Domin0e

Define showing people my game. A quick glance at Steamdb says your Storepage is 2 weeks old. What other marketing have you done before your store page went live, what have you done since it went live?

Edit: That is before we start talking about how your assets do not have a coherent look, UI elements are overlapping and other such issues that are visible on your screenshots and in your trailer.

Domin0e

Is the Timer Node set to Auto Start? If not, are you starting it via code? Is your Can_Move set properly so your Combat_Movement actually moves something?

Domin0e

If it doesn't then why would he expect it!?

I'd argue it comes with the genre. A survivorslike without controller support feels.. odd, given the roots in Twin-Stick Shooters and Bullethell. But no, its not listed with any controller support whatsoever.

Domin0e

The "How" entirely depends on where/how you advertise the Playtest imo. A "Demo" or "Playtest" label that is always visible could help; A Popup on Startup that says as much would work even better if we're talking ingame-only solutions.
If you have an announcement post on the platform you intend to use, making it clear in that post that the Playtest only involves the first X of the game can help as shape expectations, and lets you double down on any aspects you'd especially like feedback on, if any.

Called a young priest and an old priest to bless my filament.

Shoulda called them to exorcise that toolhead instead of blessing the filament, rookie mistake!

Domin0e

only half related to AI

Asks whether people have played with AI GMs and what they'd like to see from one.

I like my autonomous TTRPG narrators physically sitting at my tables, having some complexity, maybe a mole or two, with a side of wet, slobby bacon in a recycling-friendly calcium can.

Domin0e

Oh and did anyone try playing it on Linux using Steam or Lutris, does it work?

I'd assume that, just like Classic, Forever will run on the current Engine. Does that run on Linux at all?

Domin0e

I'd argue we're way below any AI threshold there may be. There is no prediction for standard Poisson Sampling for example, only math and rules. We shouldn't do as the buzzword chasing Investors and C-Suites do, and make algorithms more than they are.
I won't say there's no chance AI could be involved but doodad placement has been possibly by algorithm long before AI came along so my guess is buzzwords be buzzing

Domin0e

Heck, that's not even proper AI most likely but just regular algorithms like Poisson Sampling. Stuff that's been 'round for decades.

Domin0e

People who pirated a game wouldn't have purchased it in the first place anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Eh, that's not entirely true. While there is a subset of people for whom this is true of course, a lot of piracy is also a "service problem", as GabeN puts it. No Demos, intrusive DRM, pricing that's not adjusted to region's purchasing power but straight converted US/EU prices.. There are lots of reasons for piracy that aren't straight "Yarr, being a pirate is free, matey!"

Denuvo having a tendency to make games using their DRM solutions running worse is also old news, and we all know that more than once there were headlines when a version of Cool New AAA Game ran better when cracked than with Denuvo's DRM active, thus screwing over paying customers. There'd be a lot less demand for cracks outside that hardcore "I am pirating everything" group if solution's like Denuvo's DRM weren't shite, and maybe people would even be willing to take a more pro-DRM stance in general if your average DRM solution / product wasn't shite.

Domin0e

Why you calling the GabeCube™️ a Steam Machine? :P

Domin0e

asking for a "curator" key

they are asking for keys because they allegedly run one of those Steam Curator pages.

Most of these E-mails are appearing in my Junk folder.

I wonder why.. ;)

Are these scams, or can they actually help?

These ones? 99.999% Scams. IIRC You can grant licenses to Curators without giving them actual Steam Keys via your Steamworks backend somehow. These folks want to, as /u/ilovelosers1 said, most likely just resell the keys. I assume they are probably asking for more than one as well.

How do they even find out the E-mail address?

You likely used that email address with Steam (probably as a contact email) somewhere. I sadly don't remember how exactly they could get them, but I know having read about it before.

Domin0e

Best case? By using a proper Keyboard. ;)

Domin0e

Between the fee changes two (?) years ago, them stating gamedev is only a side thing for the engine, or the simple fact they're traded publically - Which poison would you like for Unity? :D

For Unreal - Prominently integrated GenAI bs, alongside some other changes to things over the years with UE5 especially (iirc. the change to the FAB system was not well received e.g.)

Domin0e

Duh. To make sure you don't cheat! ;D

Domin0e

Ah yes, HP's new Self-Destruct-if-third-party-ink-found program! Joke's aside, hope nothing truly important got roasted, you're good, still have a place and all that! <3

Domin0e

And based on that knowledge you asked a thing that gets all its data from said "anywhere online", anyways? A simple "Star Wars first Time View Order" online search would have yielded all the result required, more than likely not spoiling you in the slightest.
