If we consider tribalism itself to be the ideological enemy, then any notion of a competition over who has it worse is a distraction at best, highly counterproductive at worst. The idea that attending one sex's issues diminishes the other sex is nonsense. It's not a competition and it's not zero sum.

Good points. I doubt this one passes the gender swap test. If it was a man hiding his financial situation from his partner and cheaping out on his smaller side of the expenses, would the commenters be just as critical of the woman for not unconditionally supporting the man? Borderlands 2 is a classic. Most progression is character specific, but you can share loot and you have metaprogression in the form of "badass ranks" that you earn by hitting milestones or objectives per character. The difficulty is far from toothless, especially in solo play.

I'm not sure if this is an old man opinion, but I do think 2 is the best in the series.
