Working at an expensive college, my breakfst guy came to me an said there wa a kid saying we should have vegan green chili available for his eggs....
My breakfast guy was a little on the slow side, (not quite as bad as the clip IMO) so he didn't catch the conflict. I honestly don't know if this kid as serious or just fucking with my cook. Neither would surprise me and I find them close to equally irritating.
The one that realy pissed me off was this girl who came in with a list of specialty foods for her dietary restrictions that were pretty pricey. The next semiester my Exec went looking for her because she hadn't been coming by for her specialty stuff. When he finally found her she just said, "Oh yeah, I'm not into that anymore."
Even after I will never question someone's dietary restrictions, because of course that's the job. If it's something I've never heard of, I am researching it when I get home so I know about it for next time it comes up. I think it was just the sheer flippant attitude she had that got to me, because I know lots of hacks that see that as excuse to make judgement on dietary restrictions, ignoring them if they feel its bullshit.
Like I'm sure the explosion of gluten free options was amazing for people with Celiac, when the anti-gluten diets where the new fad, but I know a couple people with it personally that say it became a bigger roll of the dice eating out because the assumption is that it's just a BS fad diet and not a fucking allergy so way less care is given to cross contamination. Shit I remember my cocky shithead self right out of culinary school saying that the secret of my garden veggie soup was a couple spoonfuls of chicken base. The book KC had just come out and I thought I was channeling Bourdaine. I was just a cocky shithead.
Well, that took a turn I guess. Anyways, end of rant.

Agreed. "both sides" is basically a pivot. But if they make an accusation, it's probably something they've done but it isn't widely known, or it's something they know they would/will do. The P in GOP stands for Projection.
Doublestack2376
That's how I learned it too, but I was pretty overweight growing up, so just playing to my strengths I guess.
Doublestack2376
Rectum? Damn near killed 'em!
Doublestack2376
Thats fair. I feel like a significant percentage of the answers i get have details about something else that's related I know to be just flat out wrong. Its infuriating.

4 days left in June, then exactly halfway through 2025.

Do you mean these aren't your colors or something else?

Went to FL to hit up Universal and Disney World for thanksgiving like 11 years ago I think and it was only the 50s and I felt like such a baby shivering my ass off after going on the Jurassic Park ride. I waited however many years to finally be able to go on the Jurassic Park ride, and I'm NOT going to ride it because the temp is in the 50s!?!?

It's all those Scandinavian /Germans living up there. Stoic to a fault. That's my family. My mom's side all still live out in the boonies nearish Duluth. My mom moved here in the 70s the year there was one of those epic storms that shuts the city down for a few days, but she was a nurse at Penrose, so she cross country skiid her ass to work. It was cold enough though that she wasn't wearing shorts lol.

Thank you this is what ive been looking for. I kept search What is Contrast Paint? And people only respond with use instruction not how its actually different than thinned acrylic, but this makes sense to me. And after spending lots of time playing with special effect inks, I totally get this.

I'm sitting down now about to have the same thing. For me it's because after fighting it for over 40 years I finaly gave up a losing battle with to a growing lactose intolerance. I haven't really been a fan of any of the nut or grain juices as a substitute. and I thought I found a winner with just straight forward lactose free milk, but after noticing more and more, even in different brands, this milk that is supposedly sans the milk sugars was tasting sweeter and sweeter every time I tried it. Feeling like I was going crazy and like the product less and less I looked up if this was a thing and sure enough, the way they make real milk lactose free is by adding something that breaks the lactose into even simpler sugars, upping the overall perceived sweetness. That's definitely not what I'm looking for so hear im siting in the dark consuming watered down cream feling like one of the worst examples of Cartman or Homer eating something just God aweful, like the poptart buter sandwhich or something.

I have started to feel like the number of times the app has asked me to review it, even though I already have, is starting to encroach the territory covered by telemarketing robocall laws.
Doublestack2376
No, you're just a fucking asshole. You probably spread that toxic bullshit about it all being a simple thermodynamics equation of calories in vs calories burned without acknowledging that no real-world system is 100% efficient.

You can lookup TCP/IP, the communication protocols used for networking and routing internet traffic.
Also, specifically check out DNS, which is the basically the translation between the URL you type in the address bar and the IP address that is assigned to the server(s) that has the website, or whatever other data, you are trying to access.
I don't mean to be condescending, but since a significant percentage of young adults have never seen a land line, do you know what an old school phone book looks like? It was a giant 6 inch thick book the phone company would deliver to everyones door each year that woul have all the listed phone numbers in the area with the name and address the number was assigned to. White pages for residential listed alphjabetically by last name, and yellow pages for businesses grouped first by business category, and then alphabetically. {there were also the business white pages listed by just the business name if you already new what business you were looking for.) Well a DNS server is like a public phonebook, with (hopefully) all the active DNS records that have been submitted by webhosts, and there are many of them around the world. Your computer networking configuration is assigned two DNS server IPs to contact whenever your browser tries to contact a new URL for the first time that it doesnt have a listing for yet, usually automatically assigned by your modem when you connect, but you can assign whatever ones you want as long as they work. The IP addresses I listed that I pinged to see if my connection is up are for DNS servers owned by google, so they are very reliable to respond.
Doublestack2376
Yeah, I do the exact same thing when my connection is down. I don't even use these for my DNS, 4.2.2.1 and 8.8.8.8 are just so easy to remember, and I know as long as things are working as they should, they are going to respond. I even made a script that launched straight to a continuous ping to run in the background, back when my connection was a lot more flakey.
Doublestack2376
Sorry for the delay. i was actually mistaken, there's a coughing adult and a coughing child in close but definitely different spots, and it was the coughing child i figured out. Did you get that one already?
Doublestack2376
I believe I found an interaction with the cougher, if youd like to know i can just tell you or if youd rather just go try again with the full game i understand.
There's other sounds I can't find the triggers for right in the same area, what sounds like a weird screaming after some heavy footsteps and another place with smeone shooshing someone else.

I know this is a beyond late reply but I just had to ask you, do you also blame people who are robbed for having thing other people may want to take? Regardless of whether he is right or wrong, he is not responsible for everyone else that replied to the thread.
If you want to go with that logic, then I would think the real blame lies with the guy who responded to a legit and simple question literally saying he didn't know the subject of the question was even a possibility. He then gives his own long and detailed experience that may have been a nice story that people relate to, and therefore upvote, but it distracts from the actual cause for all these comments, because OP posted a question. Now, a year later, I had the same question and stumbled upon this thread and got similarly derailed because some people really just don't know how to reddit.

/u/Villimaro, Looks like someone was streets behind.
Doublestack2376
More likely than what? I'm pretty sure that it's actually their goal to enlist people with a tendency towards murder and the train them to control it and aim it at the enemy. And for those that don't have it, the Army does their best to train them to have that tendency as well. Again, controlled and directed at the enemy.
Or are you trying to say that killing in battle isn't murder? That's just semantics that ultimately boils down to perspective.
Doublestack2376
Sure, a DA can prosecute any crimes they believe they can prove were committed beyond a reasonable doubt, but if you really think any would waste time on this when the video clearly shows him asking for ages after the fact, and upon seeing the replies uttering out, "I didnt know," then you are either full of shit, or just a really shitty attorney and should probably just quit. And if you dont actually believe that, then you are arguing in bad faith and should just fuck off.
Doublestack2376
Way to respond in a timely manner there bud. Seriously, I said that 9 fucking years ago. That's like putting the food in the window not just a little late, not even at the end of the night after service is over, you are trying to sell that shit after the the place went out of business, the building bulldozed and a Chick-fil-A built in its place.
Way to go new guy!
Doublestack2376
Fucking children is not one of those things that is ok as long as there is no action. The DSM-5 classifies pedophilia as a mental disorder, not a fetish, and it is defined based on the desire not having committed the act. So you can take your condescending bullshit about understanding psychology back to /r/iamverysmart where it belongs.
You can call it thought policing all you want, but sexually desiring children is not ok, and should not be ignored. Obviousl6y if there is no proof that he has actually act, then he shouldn't be punished as such, but he has publicly expressed serious indicators that he has an active attraction to children, so I see no problem with labeling him a pedo and seriously feel like he should be monitored somehow.
I know that is still quite an infringement on ones rights, and it may not sound like it, but it honestly comes from a place of empathy. I truly believe that if people haven't done anything wrong or if they have done something and paid their debt to society they should be allowed to live in peace. There are people who would act as vigilantes, doling out extra "justice" to anyone on the sex offender registry, and I sincerely believe that is wrong. but at the same time, i have seen caught soliciting children in chatrooms, and immediately after being let go, are right back in the same place doing the same thing. I see these feelings as a compulsion that just cant be controlled and I really do feel sorry for them because of that, but at the same time ignoring it is just an invitation to escalation.
Sorry in advance for my book of a response. I'm getting older so I tend to ramble more and more.
It sound's like your head is in the right place. If shit is that old but he claimed he was going to use it for the upcoming banquet, is business just that sporadic? Is it getting busy for the first time in a long while? If not he's full of shit. Just off the details you provided, it sounds like absolute shit rotation habits.
Much less likely, I have heard of some crazy inventory schemes stories to get that food cost bonus. One of y chefs in culinary schoo was high level corporate somewhere and was sent to investigate the outlet that was making their bonus even when the bigger numbers said he shouldn't. He said this kitchen was absolutely immaculate. he exec himself even pitched in with cleanup every night even doing the floor spraying out the walkins. He almost missed it be found it odd that he was hosing out the freezer too. Dude was sprayng down cases of frozen shellfish and other stuff, so when they did the monthly inventory the weight of everything on hand included a shit ton of ice weight, that got tabulated as product.
It doesn't sound like this guy has his shit together enough for him to purposefullys keeping a shitton of bad product that isn't actually getting used to pad his on hand inventory like the other story. If anything it would have probably been more of a slow building bubble that he realized was going to kill his metrics if it ever actually popped. And here you are now with a big ass sanitation needle. LoL of course that's just if you guys even have a bonus structure like that.
But I digress. Keep your integrity, but stick around as long as you can. It sound like with your exec, you have the support to do what's right, no matter how painful the change might be. But understand, your exec really needs you too. Just like you see that you might not be able to do the right thing without his support, he's going to be getting the same pressure you are facing from his sous, and whoever is above him and he is going to need your support, knowing there's someone out on the line, doing things the right way when he's not there to see himself.
Take this with a grain of salt but try to give your sous a chance to get better. I was in your exact position when I started at my first hotel. Big 4 star place. Chef was new and I was in our pub outlet and the sous in charge of that outlet was just fucking dirty.
Im not really sure why, but I really don't think my exec liked me much. Actually strike that. Now that I think back, I'm sure I came off as this cocky little prick right out of school that may be right, but I probably reminded him of himself right out of school and felt the same cringe I am now LoL
The point is, it didn't matter how right I was. I wasn't being constructive I was just being critical. To quote The Big Lebowski, I wasn't wrong, I was just an asshole.
Be constructive. Keep your integrity. Let your chef know you have his back as long as he has yours, but just try to remember to only address problems, not people. That's the best advice I have for keeping things professional nd not personal.
Good Luck.
