Closest comparison is probably [[Ghostly Flicker]]. This has flashback and can blink anything but you have to wait until end step to get the stuff back (which can have pros and cons). Ghostly Flicker also returns stuff under your control while this returns it to the owner which can be relevant in the case of blinking an opponent's card you've gained control of previously.

The Greens only got what 20,000 more votes than 2024? Obviously vote splitting was not the deciding factor here. Eby just failed to read the room, called an unpopular election at a bad time, and campaigned on piss poor messaging. Once KLF was ousted he should have taken a wait and see approach before making any move. CentreBC could have solidified into an actual party rather than immediately falling back in line with the Conservatives.

Dix already had his chance and blew it. I really doubt they're gonna run him again. He would probably make a fine interim leader in the meantime though.

DromarX

He quit on the team he was captaining plus couple that with the Trumpism after the fact and it's not really hard to see why there would be resentment. I do respect he at least gave us a heads up he wouldn't be re-signing so we could cut our losses though.

By the end of taking that stuff I couldn't keep it down anymore. And I'm due for another colonoscopy next year, not looking forward to that prep again lol.

DromarX

Yeah that may be the case. Sucks to see an unwinnable matchup for your primary deck rising in prominence but I guess that's a good excuse to try some different decks for a while.

DromarX

Maybe Burn? It's not really a meta deck these days but it's fast enough and most burn spells can play through Chant/Silence (barring a Teferi). The deck also doesn't pack a lot of lifegain outside Solitude which they have no way to keep in play other than spending the full 5 mana.

DromarX

My expectations are nothing specific, nada. Our area is always right leaning so they don't really need to pander to us. They can basically take it for granted we'll vote for them at this point.

DromarX

I play Ruby Storm.  I've yet to win a game against the deck yet. Not even a match, a single game! I have moved to a list splashing black for Thoughtseize though, maybe that will fare better. Might just be borderline unwinnable for Ruby regardless though.

My closest friend linoleum!

Fetchlands (4 of each)

Shocklands (2-3 each)

Surveil lands  (1-2 each)

After that it kind of depends on the ebb and flow of the format and what you prefer to play. Urza's Saga is usually fairly popular among multiple archetypes, as is Solitude. General good disruption like Thoughtseize, Lightning Bolt, Galvanized Discharge, Fatal Push, Consign to Memory are good to have in general. Some stuff is quite specific like Ral and Ruby Medallion in storm decks.

Never said supporting the government was a requirement, maintaining the status quo is the requirement. Which is what that says and what I said to begin with.

DromarX

You're mistaken.

The speaker usually comes from among MPs of the governing party. But because they cannot vote unless their vote would break a tie and by convention must vote to maintain the status quo (which includes voting confidence in the government), a minority government can slightly weaken the opposition's power by electing an opposition speaker.

DromarX

Yes, but the speaker's mandate is to "maintain the status quo". In other words, any new legislation that's not a confidence motion they will vote against in the event of a tie. So if they want to get bills passed in a tie situation they have to make everything a confidence motion so the speaker can vote on their side (the speaker won't vote to bring down the government since that's not "maintaining the status quo").

DromarX

It's a very optimistic projection, any economist would agree. Especially when we consider we're in a trade-war with our once closest ally.

DromarX

You can do whatever you want between games. Organize all your cards by type, alphabetize them, sort them by mana value, or just mash all together randomly. If you shuffle enough to sufficiently randomize your deck before the next game then it shouldn't really matter how they were ordered before that.

DromarX

Singh got so much crap for propping up the Liberals for so long but he actually got some good concessions out of that agreement. Really that's what government should be about. Collaborating together to help society at large.

DromarX

We don’t know anything about him or his party so hope for the best.

We know quite a bit about his party, at least those of us that have been paying attention the last couple of years.

DromarX

Yep his times to call an election were either a week earlier when KLF was still leader, or like 6+ months down the road once CentreBC has stabilized/become a presence in the legislature. Maybe some of them still flip flop back to the BCCP at that point but I think it would have been much less likely.

DromarX

I agree there were definitely fractures in their ranks. But in that case you don't table legislation that some members of your party are so rigidly opposed to that they'll topple their own government. Eby wanted to amend DRIPA for example but couldn't because of dissent within his own ranks, so he didn't make that a confidence issue as he knew it would fail. Certainly the government was handicapped in some areas because of the slim majority, but it was still a functional and competent government.

"Things being worse" in 2 years doesn't mean you should throw out the baby with the bath water right now. Hell, 2 years can be a long time in politics. Things could have been better, let's not assume they definitely would be worse. Maybe Eby steps down a la Trudeau and a new leader gives them the boost they need before heading into an election. We'll never know how it would have played out since Eby went and made this poorly thought out power play right now.

Don't forget the woman who actually is an MD but somehow is also an anti-vaxxer or the woman who thinks gay people are immoral/groomers.

DromarX

A higher deficit and their hopes of paying it down hinge on checks notes 3% GDP growth. In other words, magic beans.

DromarX

While they didn't directly endorse the NDP they did run ads decrying the damage the last right wing government did to our healthcare.

DromarX

Sure it's possible the government would have fallen, but that wasn't a guarantee. They survived like 13 confidence votes so who's to say they couldn't continue to slide by? Also if it did fall at least in that case it wouldn't be Eby getting blamed for calling an unnecessary election in the eyes of the public. He could just throw his hands up and blame the opposition for causing the government to fall.
