I agree on the not sharing personal FIRE numbers etc. However, I believe its important in workplace culture to normalize sharing your salary with coworkers that you are friendly with. If you have same experience/edu/skillset etc and you're making more than them at the same job/level they are being underpaid. Its not really as much of a FIRE thing as it is supporting pay equity in the workplace.

Super cool, thanks for the help. I'm looking forward to a good several days of swimming while I'm visiting and feel more confident now than I did! Thanks again and stay safe out there!

Omg thank you so much for the box jelly warning I would have never known to check having swam mostly in cold water. Windy is a good call too though that's a concern I am more familiar with and the windy app is a frequent resource. I will check out the group and the boat ramp! Thank you thank you!

Pretty close to Portland I have swam in Vancouver Lake, just north of Portland in WA. Its a cute little lake with great views of the mountain from the water. Sometimes it can be prone to algae blooms, but not usually that early in June if I recall.I've also swam at Kelly Point in the Columbia River on the north side of Portland which is good but I found I had to do laps parallel to shore because of trees/grasses/debris near shore and my unfamiliarity of the river. Edit: And the obvious large ships that regularly traffic that river so I stayed close to shore :)

Awesome! I am planning a trip there in 2022 and would love to do some open water swimming near Kailua while I'm visiting. Any tips on places to swim or groups to meet up with? Thanks!

Thank you for the thoughtful review!

I feel this! Buying a super fancy watch for just a couple features seems off balance but I'm realizing the features I want are the expensive ones, the rest is just padding to make it sound better.I might do some saving and buy one of the higher end ones finally though. Maybe use a bit of stimulus $ for this purchase.

EDIT: Also after buying several less expensive ones and not being satisfied, I feel like if I had one watch that did the things I want it would be a much better experience and wouldn't leave me wanting a new one for the same features I've always wanted every year.

Thank you. As I don't do much pool swimming I am concerned about GPS more than a lot of the other swimming features. What was the GPS issue?

DruidCrafting

Thanks yes this does seem to be emerging as a frontrunner in my mind now.

DruidCrafting

This is helpful! Thank you very much. I am looking at the 6s for similar reasons now.

DruidCrafting

Thank you, yes I am realizing why what I need from a watch is so expensive now. Helpful input and will keep this in mind!

Pick some secure traditional "boring" stocks/ETFs that pay dividends to spend your $1000 on and forget about them untill you graduate college. You'll be thankful when you graduate.

If you MUST day trade you can also pick the above mentioned boring route till you're 18. Spend the next 2 years building credit by opening a credit card with your parents permission and a bank account etc. Use them wisely and make small regular purchases and payments. Once you're 18 you'll have a credit score that might be considered for your own margin account. Then you can start lighting money on fire in day trading.

Best of luck! I wish I was interested in finance when I was your age!

Marie Curie is on it!! Gah that's amazing. I don't need any more discs but I WANT one of these!

I would read through reviews and see if anyone near your size has posted about the fit. Also contact the company, they are usually helpful with what weight and height fits with most wetsuits. I personally have always chosen to size down if I'm between sizes because wetsuits tend to stretch when they are in the water. And any sag or excess room will fill with cold water once you're in.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Thank you, this is very helpful!

Thanks for posting this!! I've always swam and cycled so everything I did was balanced on each side of my body but with disc golf I find myself very tight on the right and loosing strength on my left side. Did you find any good workouts for balance and maintaining even tone and body alignment?

I also did a salmon and cream cheese filling once and served them with fresh chopped dill. Recommend trying!

DruidCrafting

Awesome. Thanks. Might be out there tomorrow.

Thought it looked familiar. Love that course! How are conditions after the recent rain?

This is one of my favorite meal preps! We will our pelmeni with whatever we have, potatoes, ground meat or even pesto cream cheese mixture. They freeze so easy and are great acouole couple weeks later when you have 0 inspiration for dinner.

DruidCrafting

Dang I don't mess with night swimming but those are cool lights. And that's some confidence you've got. Wishing you a safe and healthy new year!

DruidCrafting

These are adorable.

+1 for spoon test. You can also grab a teaspoon and put some of the jelly on a cool plate in the fridge, if it sets up you'll be able to tell before processing.
