yeah, im actually kinda sad that all brands keep pumping out f1.2 lenses for the top of their range, when the benefits are marginal while weight, size and price grow exponentially.

f1.4 is such a sweet spot. Allows for still super fast, smaller, lighter, cheaper, and on top of it all better performing lenses.

f1.2 is such a special need to justify all that

some quick googling or chat with AI should corroborate this, because I am not an expert. Though my understanding is that metering and if enabled, histogram computation and marking blown areas happens at the end of the pipeline, basically from the anticipated JPEG data. That also makes it totally useless for RAW shooters. Sure, whatever you capture that way is fine to work with, but you are leaving a lot on the table. Multiple stops, probably.

Exposing to the right (ETTR) you are probably familar with. WOuld be nice to have an exposure mode that does it automatically. But again, unless you are shooting JPEG, it's kinda useless to attempt it, since, as per above, from the data presented to you you are leaving stops of light on the table.
