I find that idea of the third born not being useful to the line of succession really weird in these pseudo-medieval settings where death is so prevalent. Ned was the second born son and he doesn't live to be that old, plenty of other houses die out because there is no heir to inherit or a woman inherits but marries and the name dies out. They have minimal medicine and illnesses like greyscale exist, not to mention dangerous passtimes like hunting and jousting. You'd think it would make more sense to send the third born to the Citadel as you could then recall them even if they were a Maester, but you can't recall a man sworn to the wall if all his brothers, uncles and father die. Sure maybe send any subsequent sons up that that way though.

Aemon himself is a good example of this, by taking himself out of the line of succession we got Aegon The Unlikely, fourth son of a fourth son, on the throne! Samwell Tarly is another great example, first born but deemed unfit to rule (or live!) by his father but now House Tarly has a girl ruling which I imagine Randyll would also hate! I'd think the Great Houses would want more than just one heir and one spare!

But it is a good way to get rid of asshole sons!

I also accidentally pulled my IUD out thinking it was the tampon string. I've also coughed one out once! (I've had 2 babies vaginally so I chalk it up to my cervix being a bit more open?)

Tampons can get turned sideways and nestle in beside the cervix, if you have short fingers or are in a bad position it can be tricky to reach all the way up there or perhaps people don't realise how that area is anatomically.

Also a lot of people zone out on auto pilot and might not remember if they took it out or not before putting a new one in.

Source: I accidentally removed my own IUD a couple years ago because I forgot I'd already removed the tampon and went searching for it.
