The Dread don't have better AI, that's true, but Destiny enemies don't need to behave super sophisticated to be difficult.
The Dread are difficult because each individual ad can do a lot to you.
Let's say you're fighting Hive, 20 of them. Ten Thralls, five acolytes, 2 Knights, 2 Wizards, 1 Ogre.
The Thralls rush you and melee. The Acolytes shoot you and throw grenades. The Knights either shoot you or try to melee. The Wizards shoot you and cast AoE. The Ogres shoot you and suppress you.
All these enemies kinda do the same thing. Shoot you.
But lets change that to the Dread. 22 of them. 5 attendants. 5 Weavers. 5 Husks. 5 Grimm. 1 Subjugator. 1 Tormentor.
The 5 attendants spam Stasis to freeze and slow you down while shooting you. The weavers spam Strand to yank you from cover and throw you all over the place while shooting you. The Husks throw grenades before closing in melee, and if you kill them without headshots? Now you have to deal with that worm projectile that homes in on you. The Grimm are small and pretty agile, which makes killing them difficult and hectic. Then they have that scream that suppresses your abilities. They also shoot you. The Subjugators buff ALL OF THEM with turrets and hit really fucking hard with their super abilities (the Stasis Subjugator from the final mission with the Witness was a nightmare on Legend with its shatter). And the Tormentors? The Tormentors?????? Hardest enemy in the franchise.
You mix all of that up and fighting the Dread becomes very chaotic, very hectic. Compared to the other enemy factions of course, it's not like they're impossible to deal with. They're objectively much more difficult to fight than Hive, Cabal, Fallen, Vex, Taken and Scorn.

Then there's Slay the Princess where you can do both at the same time

And if that's the case it then baffles me that you think the Dread, the toughest enemy faction in the entire franchise because they're designed to combat ability power creep and versatility that didnt exist when the other enemy races were conceived, are braindead easy.
Did you play Final Shape in Legend difficulty (solo)? Salvation's Edge? Master Conquest Derealize?
Edumesh
You clearly dont play Destiny and have formed an opinion based on what others tell you online about it
Edumesh
You dont know what youre talking about. The Dread are hard as hell to fight, especially in higher difficulties

My best friend has been hooked on it for years and is now at the point where he can't go a full day without smoking at least once. It doesn't cause the same type of physical dependence that harder drugs create, but you can definitely develop to mentally rely on it if you're someone with a personality prone to addictive behaviors and cravings. It isn't harmless.

Easiest way I would explain it is that the Winnower wants someone to play the Flower Game and win.
The Witness wants to stop the Flower Game entirely.

The Witness's (Destiny's Demiurge mixed with a touch of Space Lucifer) first Disciple and greatest warrior. Rhulk is so hilariously powerful that the Witness uses him to bully lesser gods under its servitude into compliance, which has earned him the monicker of "Subjugator"

"Annexing other people's potential effect on the universe into your own" is such a good way to describe the Sword Logic, goddamn I'm yoinking it

Edelgard von Hresvelg from Fire Emblem Three Houses starts the story out as the Crown Princess of the Adrestian Empire.
She's also hilariously busted stat-wise, with the highest strength growth of any unit in the entire game, and easily 1-shots anything stupid enough to stand in front of her (especially when you make her a Wyvern Rider)

The Winnower from the Destiny franchise is one of the two divinities that created the universe, alongside its partner/rival the Gardener. It is the incorporeal embodiment of survival of the fittest, creator and source of the Darkness as a paracausal force, one of the unbreakable pillars of reality alongside other cosmic rules like gravity and physics and time, and overall THE big bad in the entire saga.
It is also infamously chill and laid back whenever it interacts with someone who's caught its interest, referring to God-King of the Hive species Oryx (Space Sauron) as "my man," casually revealing the Unveiling cosmological creation myth with the same ease one talks about a football game while sharing a beer, and opening a little chat with your player character by calling you "my good chum." (Said chat begins by it possessing the Emissary of another set of lesser gods called the Nine that it deems as being "not a big deal.")
