The demand from all kinds of institutions is overwheling, bubble or not, people want to use AI in all kinds of knowledge work that will forever be true. We are NOT going back to a pre AI world. If demand slows capex simply slows and the remaining datacenters will be cash generating machines.

The models will get invaluable to use. People will be forced to pay for intelligence, thats the thought.

Your points are valid but the whole things falls apart when you look at cloud margin and how much its growing. In 5 years time search and ads will be like 20% of their total net revenue compared to cloud and TPU sales. In as little as one year from now the net profit from their cloud business will Eclipse search too.

Services and premium from consumers make up like 1% of their revenue. Cloud is where its at for a large enterprise base.

if their cloud revenue grows 100% YoY like it just did, in one year it will earn more than their search revenue then. Search is basically irellevant if it stagnates or not.

Bottoms usually feel like this, like something is broken and wrong and it could and should go lower. cloud revenue up 103% year over year is absolutely mind bogglingly good. in 1 year they cloud profit will be higher than their search revenue. Load the boat here. Ive been in the stock since 150$ and holding.

That happens often because it notices the gap in test coverage. When you have good coverage it simply adds single tests for the code that was just changed. Agents need alot of tests to self verify that they have not broken anything. Just like humans should also do.

Yes, we spend 80% of the time on users and our ux designer doing interviews. Coding is 20% of the time now. Specs are the bottleneck and it proves my points. Code quality and generation is not a problem anymore. Before it was the opposite, 20% specs and 80% time spent on coding.

What is bad then? Simply solving the underlying wanted behavior is covered by the agent. Our job is to describe and scope the whole problem space first through questionnaire and grill me sessions then generate code through the guardrails, and the agent then spins up the app and tests and verifies. Run compress skill at the end to find nuances in the code that can be made more efficient, reducing bloat if amy, type duplication, consolidation of mocks etc. All this blow past any code made before AI.

Opus on xhigh writes excellent code now 2 models ago it was abit more sloppy but its rare that I feel that way now.

Implemented it privately and also at work. Using fallow rust code health scanning. I also backfilled all commits for the whole repo since the beginning. Then made it into a visualized dashboard, where we can see that AI indeed has made the overall quality of the codebase much more healthier. We notice 9x less bugs overall from users after requiring good unittest coverage.

Biggest impact has been unittests and e2e tests. Tell your agent to get to 70+% coverage and you will be far better off, even without touching the running code.

Hot take: bad code can be measured. Make a quality gate for your agents, cyclomatic complexity, test coverage, cognitive load, crap scoring. Lots of good stuff that makes the agent self verify. Problem solved.
