The American retirement plan is that everyone needs to be a millionaire. You need that much to live even moderately well without a job. Social security may keep you out of poverty, but not much more.

Trump placed himself at the head of the Republican parade and then steered it into MAGA, bringing in a wave of people who hadn’t been Republicans or conservative and kicking out anyone in the party who objected. MAGA operates like a royalist party, where principles are what the King says they are and the state is used as his personal tool.

FaceReality1

You mean when Trump is president? No. He refuses to obey the the oath of office and has repeatedly betrayed the country. He thinks he is King and the Supreme Court has enabled him to act like it, again against the clear words of the Constitution. The president right now is an enemy of the United States and deserves no respect.

FaceReality1

The New York Times is generally trustworthy.

FaceReality1

Then get your vote in.

FaceReality1

There’s the lie that powers MAGA once again. The truth is we’ve never seen corruption like this in the US. Let me remind you the Trump family made ar least $2 billion in Trumps first year.

FaceReality1

It is really "That doesn't really affect anyone other than the person who owns the body in question, and government should leave it to the people involved and doctors." Not as snappy.

This is just typical projection. Actual MAGA embraces the "I don't care about that" ethic. Blue MAGA is just a word from the propaganda you read, not an actual thing.

FaceReality1

I think the campaign fundraising system is completely corrupt.

FaceReality1

Cold and bitter.

FaceReality1

That's the lie that propelled Trump to the presidency twice, and the result is blatant corruption thaf is out of control, plus pardons of politicians previously convicted of corruption.

FaceReality1

What needs to happen is people need to stop voting for corrupt politicians. The idea they are all corrupt is disinformation that protects the corrupt ones.

FaceReality1

'against the "Jew"' is such a weird construction.

Why do you think Jews should be in quotes -- I see you did that in your previous comment as well.

FaceReality1

The answer is all of them. Literally nothing is more important than the 2nd Amendment to some.

FaceReality1

I think of her as the last restraint on his behavior, but it doesn’t seem like there’s much restraint.

FaceReality1

Conservatives want strong government, it is just in a different way from liberals. Liberals want a strong safety net and regulations to protect workers, customers, and the environment while allowing maximum personal freedom, while conservatives want government to enforce conservative values, such as limiting lifestyle choices, limiting medical care, and strong police and military.

The conservatives who claim to be libertarians are generally in favor of economic liberty and for limits on personal liberty, such as abortion and birth control and some medical procedures.

FaceReality1

Trump has threatened genocide quite explicitly.

I don’t think actions up to now qualify

FaceReality1

That isn’t what I said. If someone thinks Trump is like Hitler or worse then you supporting Trump Is a big issue to them, so isn’t an example of what you are complaining about.

I seen this complaint repeatedly (that people leap to unfair accusations of Nazism), but never any examples. Can you link to any?

FaceReality1

"Worse than Hitler" isn't a minor issue. That's major -- the statement that someone calls you an enemy unless you 100% agree with them would be true only if there's some minor issue, not something huge like that.

FaceReality1

'screaming “Enemy!!” when someone doesn’t 100% agree with us' isn't what happens. The idea that minor issues drive the opposition to Trump requires ignoring pretty much all of reality, from his pocketing over $2 billion dollars to his destruction of the rule of law.

FaceReality1

The covenent I posted was their original one, which they havent repudiated.

Both sides are the problem.

FaceReality1

You really don;t know much about Hamas, do you? Here's their covenent, which talks about Jews as their enemy as much ss it talks about Zionists. https://avalon.law.yale.edu/21st_century/hamas.asp

It is both sides. Pointing to one side is calling for more dead Palestinians. We need peace, not vengence for anyone.

FaceReality1

Good. And let's have Palestinians reject the raping and murder and torture of Jews.

If you don't want both, you want continued violence no matter what you claim.

FaceReality1

SOME Israelis deny Palestinians are a legitimate nation. Hamas's charter calls for the killing of all Jews, not just those in Palestine.

The problem is both sides. Both sides also have factions that want peace.

FaceReality1

I'm calling for peace, not a continuation of violence. You are callng for continued violence. I want Palestinians to stop dying. You will fight this to the last Palestinian.

Let's turn off the ancient hatreds and find peace.

FaceReality1

Embracing peace means recognizing that neither side is going to disappear, and they need to live together somehow, whether in one state or two. Of course what Israel is doing in Gaza needs to stop. I never said "embrace the status quo". I saw "embrace peace."
