Why is it impossible when other stores are able to do it? Starbucks can do it, McDonald's can do it. It's absolutely possible, if the app is set up properly.
Also, I don't think anyone is complaining about the employees. I certainly empathize with them. This is a complaint directed at those who have the power to control these tings.
Fancy_Capybera
That's a good reason not to get angry at the employee, and you shouldn't. But it's not a reason to complain about the app.
Fancy_Capybera
It isn't. RBI is a Canadian company. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restaurant_Brands_International A 32% stake is owned by a Brazilian company.
But I'm not sure if "Canadian" status matters here. A comment above notes that Starbucks is able to provide availability on their app, and they're certainly not a Canadian company.

F-keys are completely optional. Some users use them, some don't - it has no bearing on their skills as a typist.

Just stumbled across this, but and I agree with the others that the TouchBar would have been better if it were above the F-keys, but the main thing is that 3rd parties had to use hidden APIs to use it when their app wasn't in the background. The Touchbar could have been a good alternative to menu extras, but Apple never allowed that. They pretty much kept the functionality to themselves and apps in the foreground.
Though when I had it, I used the heck out of the Xcode debug controls - it was essential when debugging Mac apps with auto-closing windows when they went in the background. If your app obscured the the Xcode on-screen debugging controls, it was impossible to pause the app with the window still open unless you used the TouchBar.

There used to be lots of free 3rd party ones for iTunes 20 years ago. But now I don't think you can make them anymore.

Same here - servers must be down.

Been using Xcode since 1.0. I like it, but it has a few problems I wish Apple would fix that have existed since Swift came out.
Fancy_Capybera
A lot do like Xcode, but yes, there are problems that have existed after years.
Fancy_Capybera
Xcode has some problems (slow Swift debugger being the biggest). But clipboard history? That seems like something you'd want for the entire platform, not just in Xcode, and plenty of utilities exist. And it has go to last edit location.
But honestly, Android Studio is slow and clunky, like the JetBrains apps. I'm not sure why people love them so much. They feel like they're getting in the way. Xcode never feels that way to me, until the debugger takes forever, or code completion fails. Other than those, I find Xcode much nicer to work in.
Fancy_Capybera
Isn't that the same problem though? It will always trail behind, and you'll still need native platform developers to fill in the gaps.

I'm just learning Rust myself, but I work with dozens of experienced Rust developers. I would guess the majority of them use Macs, but plenty use Windows and Linux as well. I think Mac or Linux is ideal. I use Nova myself, but plenty use VS Code and RustRover(JetBrains) that run equally well on macOS, Windows, or Linux. I'd say run it on your favourite platform and you'll be fine.

I'm at level 3668 and still haven't seen Midnight feast. Do I have to do anything special to activate it?

It's pretty easy to write equivalent views with the Layout protocol. I do wish Apple provided some for free. But a flow style layout is not difficult.
Fancy_Capybera
I see it everywhere except SwiftUI. I'd pay good money for "100 Days of Rust."
And when I refer newcomers to Swift to 100 Days of Swift/SwiftUI, they're shocked that such good quality tutorials are available for free.
Fancy_Capybera
The problem here is that after years have passed, people have already learned the old technology, so when they pay for tutorials, they expect it to be taught using the latest APIs, etc. There's less money in "here's how to write a collection view in SwiftUI using a bunch of difficult PreferenceKeys and GeometryReaders that runs in iOS 14, by the way this would be so much easier using Layout in iOS 16". People want to learn the easy, modern way.
But hey, I could be wrong, maybe someone should start a "here's how to do things the old way because your minimum is iOS 14" tutorial site.

I think in order to do that you'd have to not configure a CKDatabase in your SwiftData ModelContainer, and rely on willSave or didSave notifications form ModelContext to update CKSyncEngine when the user makes changes, or manually update handle it in your UI.
However, as far as I can tell, in the latest iOS 17 beta, didSave and willSave are not fired.

Ask to buy is broken even when using it correctly. My kids have their passwords, but I still have Ask to Buy turned on. The notifications often fail to arrive on my devices. We end up falling back to me having to enter my apple id and password on their devices to allow the purchase. This is fine when we're in the same room. Not so much when they're at a friend's house, school, etc.
Fancy_Capybera
It is. I use it properly and Ask To Buy notifications often fail to show up on my devices.
Fancy_Capybera
Ask To Buy is a legitimate feature of Family Sharing, and is broken. But the poster worded the password bit wrong. The child, even if they know their own password, has to come to you to enter your apple id and password to approve the purchase, when Ask To Buy fails, and it does, often.
Fancy_Capybera
I have the same issue. Sometimes, even though I've been using my iPhone most recently, I go wake up a Mac on the desk and find the request there. Sometimes, it's not on any of my devices. The feature is absolutely broken.

I use a Mac mini for a home server and am about to upgrade it to an M1 Mac mini - it's on all the time and runs a variety of server processes.
There's no "just" about it - it's a large undertaking. It's mathematically impossible to just apply a "master" key of some sort to your data. For AgileBits to do be able to decrypt your data, it would require them to do one of two things:
Secretly send your secret key and main password to their server and store it. Agilebits has a lot of employees - one leak would be all it would take to be discovered.
Completely change the encryption algorithms to one that supports a master and user keys, and then decrypt and re-encrypt all of your data on your device. Any security researcher could notice this within a few minutes.
This is not likely to happen.
