I was one of those poor optimistic fools.

Others are mentioning it, but I'll say it too... Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are fantastic on Switch 2.

I still use my Steam Deck, actually more than I thought I would. I have a huge backlog of Steam games, many of which still run really well on Deck. Just bought Batman Telltale series and that runs great on the Deck. There's a few platformers and indies that I'd probably prefer to play on the Switch 2, but right now many of them are still locked to Switch 1 specs. I'm guessing over time, I'll buy more stuff for switch 2 and fewer things for the Deck, but the Deck is still a solid choice at the moment.
Also I can use a web browser on the Deck so I can get Prime, Netflix, HBO, etc., which is great for downtime at work, if/when I don't feel like playing a game.

I had kind of the same thing with a Dan Reeder album a few years ago. USPS had folded it in half and shoved it into my mailbox. Must've been really hot in the truck because somehow the vinyl didn't break, just folded up like a giant plastic taco. I was able to flatten it quite a bit but never got it to a playable state.

Feels like there's a ton of comments crapping on OP for imagining a ragebait controversy, and then proceeding to kind of prove his point.

Cutscenes are 30fps and pre-rendered for sure, but I actually don't mind it. Better shadows, depth of field effects, and probably other stuff I'm not noticing are being rendered by the engine, but there's probably a limitation which is why they chose to pre-render and lock the cutscenes to 30.

Not saying it will click with you, but I'm new to Warriors games, and I've heard that they are pretty niche, but to me it's absolute crack cocaine. I'm only a few hours in but I just really like messing around with the movesets of the different characters I have so far. I can see the "button mashing" criticism, but honestly I think you could apply that criticism to most ARPGs on easier difficulties. I'm leaving it on "normal" for now, until the combat loop fully clicks, but I am having a blast so far.
I also bought Three Hopes earlier this year, and only barely tried it, and the combat loop was very new and unfamiliar to me at the time. Now that this type of gameplay is making more sense to me, I'm looking forward to getting into that game as well.

It's been in my wishlist for a while now. It never seems to go on sale and I'm waiting to see if it gets a Switch 2 patch, but I feel like I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for that. I've heard nothing but good things about the game though. Should I just grab it anyway?

Maik the Liar, that's my route.

This probably doesn't matter in your case, since you had it powered off completely and not in sleep mode, but in system settings, under "sleep mode", there's a setting called "keep wired connection active in sleep mode." It's only supposed to affect downloads and updates while docked, but I swear there's a bug where it's constantly looking for an internet connection in sleep mode and it drains the battery. I take my Switch with me to work sometimes, and before I turned that setting off it'd be down below 50% several hours later when I had some down time. Now it's still around 95% after the same amount of time.
Sounds like your situation is different but it might still be worth checking that setting to see if it makes a difference.

Pretty much, yep. Sometimes it's a toss up when games are available for both, but like in the case of Cyberpunk, that's a 4K PC title for me. Triangle Strategy is better on PC, but I'll actually take the downgrade and play it on Switch because of the portability. Right now there are more downgrades with certain games because they are the Switch 1 versions of games, but that will be less of a hassle as time goes on (and before the new hardware ages out lol).
Anyway, long story short, PC + Switch 2 is the sweet spot for me.

u/GoldenAgeGamer72 I have no idea if it's a game in your wheelhouse but Torchlight 2 has been a surprise bit of greatness on the Switch 2 for me. It's probably my favorite "Diablolike" barring Diablo 2, and it's the only version of the game that has full controller support (3rd party dev added controller support when they ported it). I've owned it for Switch 1 for a while, and it plays that much better on SW2. Solid 60 fps, quick loading times, etc.
Stuff like Torchlight 2 is (again, "for me," always that disclaimer) why I can't measure the SW2's value purely by how many exclusives the console has. Having a classic favorite of mine run so well on a portable machine is a big reason why I own the console.

I mean, more power to them I guess if they are miserable and can't find anything to play, but I've got a huge backlog of Switch 1 games, plus Silksong, Hades 2, Romancing SaGa 2, FF tactics, DK, to play right now. Then there's Hyrule Warriors in a month, then Metroid 4 a month after that. I'm plenty busy and the Switch 2 is competing with my 4K PC setup at home for my most-used system, actually slightly ahead right now probably.

In the top running for me as well. Fantastic album, and if I had to pick one Tom Waits album, it's that one. Blind Love, Gun Street Girl, Anywhere I Lay My Head... damn now you have me thinking it's been too long since I've listened to it!

Same here, I have a Switch 2 and a PC that's beefy enough to run well on my 4K TV. I like them both, and I feel like I have all my gaming bases covered between those two things. Also have a Steam Deck, which is fun, but honestly the Switch 2 is my preferred handheld at this point.

Signed up for the waiting list early on, but then decided to upgrade my PC instead of getting the Switch 2. Got the (late) email to order and broke down and ordered it anyway. No regerts! Piling up the backlog, testing out Switch 1 games, it's now competing with my fancy new 4K console-style PC. BOTW is like a new game, DK Bananza is a blast, Mario Odyssey is gorgeous. Octopath Traveler is locked at 30 fps but looks to me to be 1080p... it's very nice on handheld and a game like that at 1080 still looks decent on a 4K TV docked. Romancing SaGa 2 remake looks and runs great. Plans for the near future include playing Bayonetta 1 through 3 and waiting patiently for Metroid Prime 4.
Edit: Also wanted to mention Unicorn Overlord is a flawless presentation on Switch 2, although that ran very well on Switch 1 anyway.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter looks cool, even though I know nothing about the series. I'm bringing my Switch 1 JRPG backlog over to Switch 2 and adding more games to it. Would love to see Metaphor ported over at some point as well. Currently enjoying Romancing SaGa 2 remake.

Hopefully Fire Emblem Engage and Three Houses. Also Fire Emblem Three Hopes, but that at least runs at 60 fps, just needs a resolution update.

I'm just now realizing how much I want a credstick bottle opener.
Yeah I actually got into it a fair amount in Fallout 4. Turned on Survival mode and built a pretty sweet base with a roof garden in Hangman's Alley. I thought I'd end up really getting into it with Starfield, but I haven't built any bases yet at all, even with hundreds of hours played.
Every time I thought about it, I was always gated in some way in the skill tree, to the point where it wasn't quite worth it to invest in the points. I'd rather go off and do something else. I'm still not sure if I like the skill tree in Starfield. It's definitely not my favorite.
