it's functioning well so far aside from maybe some collision stuff on the ult animation, though I'm quite proud of the progress I made <3 I wanted to use real audio from Metroid Dread for this, she even has the angry scream from the Raven Beak fight

lowkey the reason I started making movesets was because there were some characters I wanted to see done right somehow (if at all! not much people recognize Cole MacGrath, nobody made a Viewtiful Joe!) but testing them is a nightmare when half of the people you fight on CC is the most broken, overwhelming bullshit and the rest of the time some jagoff like Duckfledge decides to crash the server with either annoying or racist takeover kits

I just want a fighting game that can seriously work in the grander FGC with an appealing style/vibe and snappy gameplay that doesn't become a side scrolling shooter the way Injustice is. I am tired of DC's fighting game history being nothing but mobile games, catalysts of evil Superman discourse and whatever Justice League Task Force is. Get a team at Capcom or a smaller independent team familiar with the genre like Future Club (Skullgirls) or the guys that formed Quarter Up (Killer Instinct alumni, yummy! Invincible VS was good for what it does but they deserve a roster that's more than just flying punchy guys!) involved.

it has its jank, there may be a few too many flying punchy dudes, but god dammit it gives me memories of MVC2 (the game that got me locked in on fighting games after a break), it got me into Killer Instinct when I was prepping for launch, and juggling between my teammates in a combo is still so satisfying, and THAT'S why I stuck with it 🥹

that's aight, i don't mind if not everyone likes it or finds the appeal! as someone who loves tag games and Killer Instinct the game just kinda clicked for me, to each their own :)

imo I feel like "snappy" is a better term for how its animations look? like it doesn't clearly look like its all motion capture the way normal battle animations in NRS games do with the fence punches and arm flails (cinematics don't count, but I did like the animation in this games story mode. they actually made use of Viltrumites being able to fully pivot in mid air, that's really cool! its choreography surpasses the show's at times), but it feels like it more noticeably snaps to the key frames. I enjoy the game for what it is either way, my only real critiques are in the roster choice (lotsa Viltrumites but their play style differences seem to alleviate the concern a little bit) and the memory leak issues it gets sometimes.
the recent patch kinda improved the fun factor for me, being able to make longer combos with the meter changes really opens room for experimenting for me :)

maybe i'm absolutely stupid but i don't see much of an NRS comparison with invincible beyond the blood and gore (even then the gore feels snappier and "impactful" compared to the indulgent stuff NRS games have imo). obv there's a lot more killer instinct DNA to it considering the devs, and i'm sure not everyone likes how the tag mechanics feel but i like the moment to moment stuff with this game, i like being able to think abt how i gotta break out if i'm hit and juggling between my fighters mid-combo! it's been tiding me over alongside UMVC3 while i wait for all the tokon bullshit to subside and get fixed

most likely Tokon tbh, I've been a team fighter guy at heart since I first got a used copy of UMVC3 at GameStop at freshman year of HS and I've been aching to play my favorite Marvel heroes that never got a chance to be in MVC!
ATLA looks fun, I had some good memories watching the show with my parents (one of the only times we all watched Nickelodeon together), and it does look really well made and fluid, but I can't in good faith support a project with someone like Mike Zaimont or Geoff the Hero involved. I'll be alright without it, I got BBCF anyway if I want a fast fluid airdasher with unique character gimmicks!
