Well I read it before it was more complicated than that. But it all came down to the incompatibility of two different business models. Had Nintendo known what would happen latter, they would make some changes but they would still choose cartridge over CDROM.

Breeding as the main game mechanic is not a new concept. Today we have tons of games that focus on killing other lives and mutilating their bodies with such varied styles and creativity, and suddenly a game about reproduction is a problem? They (TPTB) saw these countries' anxiety from lack of land and natural resources (akak living space), and the intense desire to expand at the time, and they fueled the fire and capitalized the opportunities.

If the Japanese hated the Jews so much, why would they use occupied China as a safe haven for them? Why would the Japanese protect their financial interests in China? Why would the Japanese wanted the Jewish refugees to settle in China in exchange for financial support?

And the connections didn't end there. The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan today, inherited a lot of right-wing members and war criminals during WW2, has very close ties to the TPTB and was in power for over 50 years. The LDP sure hates TPTB (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)!

Hey I have no monetizing ideas. But I agree with some posters that content should be the key. Perhaps you can think of the things you can do with ascii characters that you can't do or do easily with images, and bring more of that and other interactive experiences to that.

Also try to get some models/amateurs to submit their ascii's, and set up affiliate programs with them so you or them get paid when the user wants to see the original photo.

It's gonna be a very niche site but I can image it making some money. Having some unique atomsphere on the site would definitely help. Good luck!

Well to be fair "you never know when you will need more" is also a bit of premature. I use a mix of both to differentiate uniques and non-uniques, so that when I'm modifying I will know what's at stake.

Since you have a front-end guy already, you can look into the back-end world. PHP, Python and Ruby (with Ruby On Rails) are the three languages that are proven technologies with ample learning resources, and are good as a first language for beginners (especially the first two). Then learn an SQL database such as MySQL, and progress into the NoSQL solutions if they are a better fit for what you have in mind.

Of course it would take months and even years of time to be productive with these technologies, during this period you may feel like you are becoming a programmer instead of realising your end goals. However just think this way, the technologies are just tools. If you are going to work with them anyway, having a bit of experience in using them would help a ton. You will gain a level of clarity unattainable had you never tried to cross the river and get yourself wet.

Don't beat yourself up too much man. Just trying and lasting that long is an achievement. You should instead give yourself a high-five. I started doing nofap almost 6 months ago, I've been trying 3-day sessions and even that I've failed countless times. If I feel too depressed every time I fail, I would have no motivation left and given up long ago.

Just take baby steps one at a time, and let your subconscious slowly onboard with you, and you will be able to muster up more will power each time.

Did you have previous programming experience when you started? Anyway congrats! That's a LOT of achievements in 6 months. If I can do this much in the next 6 months there will be no regret in my life.

The book 'Pro Git' is what got me started and I highly recommend it.
