What are you talking about? The USSR and other Eastern Bloc states were undeniably Socialist, any "argument" against that is just crazy.
If your trying to say that it doesn't matter because those states don't exist anymore, that's probably even stupider imo. People are should always be learning and educating themselves on previous socialist states, no matter how successful they are, because there are always lessons to learn from it. Just because a socialist experiment failed, doesn't mean we should reject all polices related to it. We should look at the state and find out what when wrong and why, and disregarding it on the grounds of its gone is complete stupidity. You don't just avoid all of Marx's theory because he's dead, so why should you ignore a policy of a dead state because its dead? You shouldn't.
Two things. Firstly, that flag may have the hand of ulster on it, but it is not the flag of ulster. It is the unofficial flag of Northern Ireland. Secondly, Northern Ireland, while being in the country of the UK, is on the island of Ireland, so by extention is Irish. Nevermind that, if you want to talk politically, the ROI gets a say on some northern affairs, and all people born in NI get automatic citizenship in Ireland, so while the north is currently under UK oversight, it is certainly not "western britian". Demographically its not even western britian. Since the last election, SF has a majority, so the majority consider themselves irish, and support reunification.
