The honest answer is I have no reason to.

1. I’m personally financing this pet project and am the one doing the work with AI doing a majority of the heavy lifting.
   
2. I’m never going to play this on any other device but my iPhone so it working on other devices isn’t my priority, not to say I won’t take that feedback and make changes but I’m focusing first on what makes the game work for me.
   
3. Since I’m not selling this or profiting from it in any way there is no reason for me to waste my money and time developing it across multiple platforms like would traditionally be the case when developing a game.

Sounds good. I’m just finalizing some things with the terrain building functionality and then after I’m done testing that I can push the alpha update I believe

Yeah, it’s crazy how this game is still something I think about and enjoy playing after all these years.

Once the original version is perfected, I can’t wait to start on developing mods for it to make improvements on it lol

I tried to leave as much as Point and quick as possible, but things like aiming your golf shot. Didn’t really work well by doing that so I created an aim button that lets you use the screen it’s kind of like a trackpad and then I adopted that to other aspects of the game, like trying to find the best place to build a lot or placing other buildings in general.

I’m interested in getting people feedback Plus with more people testing I’m sure all the bugs will become exposed and I still have many. I need to convert that. I haven’t bothered dealing with yet.

And on top of all that once it works the way it should then it’s updating all of the new interface to look better.

And then, after that, it becomes game improvements visuals things of that nature so hopefully I get some more donations haha

I hope my adaptation of how the mobile controls should work goes well.

Think of it this way. I’m creating a mod for SimGolf that lets you play it on a touchscreen device. I’m not legally allowed to distribute the game as I am not the rights owner. If you have … or find … a version of the game and upload it into the launcher then it will play and work.

I’ll probably explain how to do that as long as it’s not against the law as I’m not trying to get sued by EA.

yea it should be relatively simple, you bring your own version of the game just like in the other posts, upload it ti the site i create, and start to play.

Thanks, it’s been a fun project but I’m slowly starting to lose my mind having to wait for my AI agent usage to reset which is slowing down the development of the project overall but it’s going to get done … eventually

So it should work in android no problem. It’s a web based application so it should work theoretically on any device. Like I said either in another comment or my original post the testing I’ve done has been like 50/50 between my phone and my computer lol

The point is, I’m not trying to create a new golf simulation game. Plenty of developers have tried, even with modern PC games, and most have been disappointing in my opinion.

SimGolf’s beauty is its simplicity. It doesn’t need flashy graphics or cutting-edge technology. It’s just a genuinely fun game that’s easy to play.

It’s also 24 years old, the franchise has been abandoned, and until recently, even getting it running on modern computers was a hassle. There are no official updates or improvements coming.

I’m bringing it to mobile because that’s where I want to play it. I don’t want to sit at a computer, and I think this particular game is exceptionally well suited for a touchscreen.

I’m also struggling to follow your argument. You originally questioned whether using AI was necessary, which I answered. Now your argument seems to be that I should just play it on PC or develop an entirely different game.

But neither of those accomplishes what I’m actually trying to do: play the original SimGolf on my phone. And without the use of AI, that goal would never be accomplished.

I’m currently working on converting the landmark and other miscellaneous items to be more easily placed and used on mobile. However, I hit my threshold again and can’t do anything until 11 AM.

Without anyone donating, I think this project will take a week or two to get into an open beta where I can start to have people actually play test and get feedback.

Currently having anyone else’s input would kind of be pointless due to this year amount of things that still need to be converted.

I will probably make a list at some point today of all the things that still need to be done and tested before I opened it up to the public for beta testing.

However, once everything isn’t a good state, I can start to work on polishing all of the improvements so that it actually looks like the games original UI and not random green boxes of things lol

I understand where you're coming from, but that same argument could be applied to almost every major technological advancement in human history.

Progress has always disrupted industries, eliminated certain jobs, and created new opportunities. The printing press, industrial revolution, computers, and internet all fundamentally changed how people worked and made certain professions less necessary or obsolete.

That doesn't mean there aren't legitimate concerns about how AI is developed or used, especially regarding copyright, compensation, and environmental impact. Those are absolutely worth discussing.

But I don't believe avoiding a technology altogether because it disrupts existing industries is the answer. If humanity had taken that approach throughout history, we'd be nowhere near where we are today.

In my particular case, AI is allowing me to accomplish something I otherwise wouldn't have the time, money, or technical expertise to do. Choosing not to use a beneficial technology isn't going to stop its advancement, and refusing to embrace the tools available to you ultimately puts you at a disadvantage. I think the simplest comparison is a calculator. I'm sure you use one regularly, but why not do all your calculations by hand? Because technology exists to make things easier, more efficient, and more accessible. AI is simply the next evolution of that concept.

This is more than likely going to be extremely helpful for the project I am working on as well trying to convert the game to mobile with native touch controls so thank you for this.

So where should i post updates? I feel like i should post them on the ko-fi page as it alerts anyone that donated or follows the page of the updates versus reddit not sending anything out to anyone when i edit the main post and add lines.

i also cant add images to comments so to post updates it would have to be the main post.
