I'm not anti but this argument is cooked.
Having access to a calculator does not make you a lesser or greater mathematician. You still need to know the concepts. In fact, the more math concepts you know, the more buttons of the calcualtor you "unlock"
But using the calculator, while not having math knowledge beyond knowing how to add/subtract/multiple/divide, and calling yourself a mathematician, is pure larping.
Using AI for art, and even programming, is no different. AI is a force multiplier, and 0 times n is still 0.

Correct. The way you make something moddable is by making it "modular" and "data driven". Those are the keywords to prime aspiring devs. It's a question of design and architecture; the language or game engine used does not matter much here.

Just my personal, matter of taste here. Disregard freely.
The new one looks higher quality.
But the first one looks more memorable.
How about a style closer to the "Before", but with the colors and clothing quality of the second (starting from the neck down)

Mixels just generally look bad whether a human or an AI draws em. There can be exceptions but they're more often bad.
I say this as someone making pixel art games where pixels can be in half-pixel positions and can rotate, so I'm not a pixel art purist. Mixels just genuinely don't look good

I agree with the general merit of this statement, but there is nuance. In software, if you ask AI: "Make me this application in one shot, make no mistakes", while knowing nothing about software engineering or how to code the simplest function, then yes you are ordering and consuming.
But if you use it as an assistant, have detailed conversations about specs and requirements, make the AI interview you instead of assuming things, make and revise a plan before a single line of code is built, and review the code before merging it with your main codebase then that's a different story.
For drawing, music, and other more "tangible" forms of art though, yeah I don't really see much value in AI yet. MAYYBE for doing concept art or filler music while your real artists makes the real thing.

Hello fellow autist :)
Perhaps the visual output of some cellular/voronoi noise is closer to it?
Or poisson discs?

The name for that is a "star graph". Same concept as "star topology" in networking.

Using the logical OR symbol is diabolically clever. Good stuff thanks for sharing.

Think of it this way: If Steam genuinely becomes a septic tank, it dies. We all die as game devs. We all lose. Including Valve, the billion-dollar company with a billion more dollars and incentive to prevent the situation from getting there, than basically any individual game developer around here.
Not trying to be mean, but trying to encourage you. This isn't our war to fight. We don't know where things are gonna go, but as long as we keep doing our part in making polished, passion-filled games, things may turn out just fine.

Slop naturally sinks to the bottom. Slop isn't new to Steam; the platform has been dealing with slop for decades now. Yes, there is higher volumes of it now and it is easier to produce slop than ever. But still, Steam is no stranger to dealing with it.

If that's the competition, then games made with real passion will only shine ever brighter amidst those.

Do not let our stupid world define your worth by how much money you make. Yes if two "useless" people are together, they starve. That's a fault of the system, not the individuals.
