I handle it in what's pretty much normal "Hyperdrive". I don't expose the fact that it's all smoke and mirrors and pseudoscientific gobbeldygook.
There are little generators forming a network all over the inside hull, between it and the outside hull. When powered (from capacitors, usually), they generate a "transition field" that shifts the ship into hyperspace. Once it's there, the ship travels from point A to point B via the "hyperdrive" in the center of the ship. (There's a backup one, too, BTW) Then the little generators slowly power down, and the ship slips gently back into normal space. The engineers immediately go over the field generator web and capacitors to make sure they're shipshape. The ship's power core starts recharging the capacitors, and then they go over the hyperdrive. The whole system is confirmed functional before being used again.
They have horror stories about the results of malfunctions, most of which are either exaggerated or outright bullshit to scare the rookies. Actual problems with the field generators usually just cause the ship to "flop" back into a spot in normal space somewhere that corresponds with where it was in hyperspace. You can get a "Lost In Space" situation, but normally you'll just be somewhere between Point A and Point B. It should be noted that the fields tend to be larger than the space between the generators to cover for some of them failing in mid-usage. If the hyperdrive fails in hyperspace, the whole thing is shut down while the backup drive engages. The ship stays in hyperspace as long as the field generators are working.
In short, I take an engineer's view of things. The tech is treated as actual machinery, even though what it does is complete BS. Maintenance, breakdowns, repairs, spare parts, etc.

They had to rename the marlboro monsters of IX after the cigarette manufacturer sued them. They're not terribly consistent about it. Even today they're officially called "malboro", but if you still have the original game, you know better.

Secondly, animals who have antlers are usually males of the species in rut season. There are some exceptions, but I'm not taking the chance that she's pakin' a pen0r. If so, it's probably one that would put a stallion to shame. Asphyxiating on a pen0r, drowning in semen, guts rupturing from a massive anal penetration? These are not ways in which I want to die.
