They're both hard in different ways, in my experience. Stage one has a bit mote bedrest involved usually, and you're limited to one arm if doing rff, which makes you really dependant for the first 3-4 weeks. Stage two hurts worse bc the surgery area has so much sensation, vaginectomy was the most painful thing I've ever recovered from. UL has it's own challenges too. But you're more independent because of having less movement restrictions and both arms able to be used.

Some people find one or two harder depending on what challenges they have and how they cope with various aspects of the process. I'd say it's best to go into it not assuming one or the other will be harder unless you already have a good idea about which aspects of surgery and recovery you would find hardest.

Yes, i had a hysterectomy and kept my ovaries and have just 3 tiny scars on my abdomen. It was a laproscopic hysterectomy, and it was very easy and quick to heal from.

I found "No death, No fear" by Thích Nhát Hanh to be helpful for these feelings.

No, this is not a good idea if you want UL when you have phallo. The outcome that might be better with meta without UL is getting a bit more length out of it, but if you're going to get in buried anyway, i can't see how a temporary extra cm or two would be worth missing your chance at UL later on.

I did have meta first, but i had UL. And it did make my life easier while i waited. In that sense it can help. But don't miss your chance to have UL with phallo by skipping it with meta.

If you want UL with phalloplasty, you need to also have UL with meta. Doing meta without UL could mean you cannot have UL with phalloplasty.

I'm in a similar boat of getting stage 2 on the books 2 months sooner than i expected, i feel ya. I have insurance reasons to choose the sooner timeframe so I am, but it does feel like less prep time than i would have preferred, having just gone through all the time of for stage one recovery. I haven't had any numbness or sensation loss in my natal dick either despite a merve being co-opted for hookup, which for me is brilliant considering i am sticking with the dual-dick option. The only difference I've noticed is my erections not being as stiff because my ligament was dissected to reach the nerve for hookup. And I'm already experiencing some referred sensation on the side the nerve was left intact at just under 6 weeks.

If you have interest in the science side of whales, i highly recommend How To Speak Whale by Tom Mustill! It starts with the story of him being breeched upon by a humpback, which sends him down a path of learning about whale communication and more. The audio version includes many audio clips of whale song, and is read by the author. I loved it and have recommended it to several others in my life who also loved it.

Nothing changed for my dick itself, nor for my balls, tho i had simple scrotoplasty so nothing much was done there. Sensation in the dick doesn't usually change for people with meta.
