1) I was in high school and had a couple of good friends in the social club I was in - or so I thought. I only found out they both hated me when one of them brought me a note that had been passed in another class explaining in excruciating detail why they both hated me. The one that brought it said that she thought I should know what the other one really thought. They then went off and laughed about it together.
2) Went to a basketball camp with a friend when I was a kid. I'm an introvert, and was super, super shy as a kid. Only child, didn't really know how to react with other kids my age, etc. The first day I walked up to her while she was with another group and the conversation just stopped. She then told me I couldn't be friends with her anymore because I was "holding her back from achieving her social goals."

I have one personal and one professional goal that I'll list here.
- Personal: I want to travel to Ireland and England. I grew up in a small town in the Southern U.S., but have always felt homesick for Europe. I was supposed to go on a trip this year with a school program to England, but it got canceled due to the pandemic. I hope to go next year.
- Professional: I want to start a complete care diabetes clinic in honor of my grandmother who passed away from the disease. Sort of a one-stop shop where diabetics can receive primary care, podiatry, nutrition, neurological, social support and any other care they might need. I don't know how to go about this or if it's even viable, but I think it would really help cut down on diabetes co-morbidities and costs associated with the disease and hopefully give others the quality of life my grandmother didn't get to experience.
I obviously have more goals, but those are the two things I feel I was put on the earth to do.

You’re right. It’s horrific in all spaces where someone attempts to use their religion to intentionally harm the weak and helpless. I haven’t seen evidence of it in my current church, and I would leave the church and call authorities if I did. We need to hold our leaders accountable.

I just watched this episode of this, and had NO idea that this happened in JW. As a Christian myself, I was horrified that this sort of abuse was allowed to run rampant and go virtually unchecked.

N even close to TA. My best friend had a vegan wedding, and my parents are both avid meat eaters. They eat meat with every meal, and still put on a smile, suck it up, and eat the food. Tell your uncle he's no longer invited because he's trying to make YOUR wedding about him.

I have a tendency to play the victim to get sympathy if I don't hold myself accountable. I'm working on this one.

Bless you. This is an underrated comment.

I would argue that as long as you're following the rules set forth by the government and you know your family as too, you're fine. Sounds like she's jealous to me!

27yo single female. I have been on just a few dates in my life, and I've recently learned that I have often gotten in my own way. I had an emotionally abusive "ex-boyfriend" (I was his make-out buddy who had serious feels; he did not.) in high school that seriously messed me up. I've spent the last ten years working through the wreckage that I let him leave behind. I've been in therapy on and off for about five years, and I'm slowly learning that a lot of my un-willingness to date is because of my experience with this boy. He used my insecurities against me, gas-lit me, etc., and I simply haven't been willing to be vulnerable with anyone since then.
I'm slowly coming out of it with changing the way that I think, working on my physical appearance, and learning new skills/hobbies/interests. I do want to be in a relationship one day, but I'm learning to find happiness and fulfillment in who I am as a person, in my friends, other family, my faith, my job. It's hard sometimes, but focusing on my faith and myself have made me a stronger and more confident person. I've really tried to embrace the feeling that if a guy isn't interested in me (a smart, confident, funny woman) because of what I look like, I dodged a bullet because I'm not interested in spending the rest of my life proving I'm worthy of his love and affection. Hope this answers your question! Good luck to all of us out there! <3
