To my surprise this was delivered today / Sunday. The 8 ah battery fit in and powered it up, no issues.

I ordered the 60v 20" metal auger snowblower yesterday, scheduled delivery is Saturday, so obviously I have no experience with it yet. We don't usually see much snow before December, so it may be awhile before I can offer a review. Also, I've never owned a snowblower before, so I won't have a basis for comparison.

This seems to be a new model, if you look at it on Amazon there are a couple of reviews from users in Canada from earlier in 2026, but it only recently appeared on the Greenworks US website. This one offers 3 speeds, 1900/2200/2500 RPM and they seem to be proud of the 2kW brushless motor. The previous models were single speed, but they don't appear to publish the RPM's or motor specs.

Previous 60v models:

20" with plastic auger, not compatible with 60v 8ah battery.

22" with metal / rubber auger, works with all 60v batteries.

This was a quandary for me, as I didn't really want the bigger / heavier 22" model, but I already have two 8ah batteries for my mower.... The new 20" model seems perfect. I will at least post an update when it arrives to confirm compatibility with the 8ah batteries.

An friends mother wrote a memoir. She was born in 1916, something like the 16th of 18 children to the same parents. Half of her siblings were dead from disease before 1930.

That $1.8 should cover some sidewalk weed and bush trimming. From the story about the pedestrian being hit, he was "allegedly wearing dark clothing". Allegedly? Did nobody confirm?

Anyway, I'm a big supporter of making things safer for pedestrians and cyclists, so the new funding award is good news.

This is good advice. Most of the sturgeon I've seen come out of the Kansas River came from around the Water One weir, about 15 miles upstream of Kaw Point, but that area has become more difficult to fish from the bank because of parking restrictions. That said, Tuttle Creek is and will be releasing a ton of water for the foreseeable future, making bank fishing at Kaw Point a bit more of a challenge probably into November.

What does defeating the Republicans even look like? Conservatives are not going away. My hope is that a new party emerges for moderate former Republicans who disavow MAGA. MAGA can keep the Republican Party and drive it's remains into the ground.

But none of that happens if we let them keep winning elections. I dream of a day when things are different. In the meantime, Hamilton has my full and unqualified support.

End dredging of the riverbed.

Dredging contributes to riverbed degradation, bank erosion, and re-releases pollutants into the water. At Kansas City the riverbed has dropped ~15 feet in places in the last 50 years, threatening infrastructure, including bridge pillars, water intakes, and floodwalls. Some of that was by design, as channelization of a river tends to do, but continuous removal of sand also takes a toll.

Friends of the Kaw has a great writeup on the impacts of dredging on that river. The Missouri is a little different because of the wing dikes and bank stabilization efforts by the Army Corp, but ultimately that sand has to be replaced from somewhere. https://kansasriver.org/protect/sand-and-gravel-dredging/

In 2005 or so, the main barge company serving the Missouri River folded after several years of drought had curtailed their operating seasons. The Port of KC closed in 2007. From 2008-2015, you didn’t see anything big around KC except local sand dredges, occasional custom cargo that was too big for other modes of transportation, and a Coast Guard ship coming through twice a year to place and remove seasonal channel markers.

Port of KC reopened in 2015, part of a larger effort to restart barge traffic on the Missouri, but it’s been a tough slog, and they have averaged about 15 barges a year since reopening.

On the Mississippi and Ohio it’s common to see tows with 30+ containers. The largest I have seen on the Missouri is 6. It’s much more difficult due to the narrow channel and fast current. Ultimately the private barge companies have not fully embraced the Missouri River since some of the ports were re-established ~10 years ago. That could certainly change, but it’s not a slam dunk.

Roger Marshall is afraid to meet his constituents outside of carefully screened groups. He stated that he would not do open town halls because it might cause a riot.

Garyf1982

Marshall accused Hamilton of taking $3 million in PPP loans and absconding with the funds. Resurrection Church did take the loans, but it was a matter of pride to them that they payed it back 100%, something only 1% of PPP recipients had done to date.

Marshall knew that his allegation was a bold face lie, but he ran with it anyway. But sure, “Hamilton’s ad was slander because the lady who went to jail for missing a $50 payment technically went to jail for missing the court date for missing the $50 payment”.

My neighbor, ~80 years old, Navy vet, lifelong Republican. Every day he would put out his flag, every night he would take it down. Until Jan 6, 2021 when he stopped. He did not want to be mistaken for a MAGA. I don’t know who he votes for these days, but I know who he doesn’t vote for.

Baby steps. I ask people “what would happen if we monetize the debt, and just “print” the money to reimburse all of the treasury holders?” The response is always “insane inflation”. I counter with a question.. If your bank was closing, would you take your savings and go on a spending spree, or would you find another bank or safe place to put your savings?

Does this inform them on mmt? Not really, but it plants a seed, and hopefully makes them curious enough to question their understanding and do some further digging.

Wallace County votes Republican more than any other county in the state. It's good to see it trending toward blue, but... 44 people voted for Biden in 2020. 52 people voted for Harris in 2024. 93% Republican in 2020, 91.7% Republican in 2024.

Roger Marshall alternately takes credit for, and criticizes the Panasonic plant. Marshall did nothing to help bring Panasonic to Desoto.

RM, 8-2-2022: “Great news today! Panasonic announced it chose Kansas as the location for a brand new battery plant. Billions of dollars in investments and thousands of great jobs are on the way to Kansas!”

RM, 7-25-2025: "I’ve said from the beginning that this was going to be a boondoggle. EVs (especially the batteries) are terrible for the environment and are not economically viable without government giveaways. This plant will only result in higher utility costs for Kansans, and a huge bill of IOUs to Panasonic. "

I would hold those people accountable for the outcome, but to add 75 million non voters and 3 million 3rd party voters to Trump’s tally and say that 69% supported Trump vs 31% for Harris is a stretch.

I don’t assume that Argentinian beef is inferior. I do question our governments lack of transparency on origin and inspection process. Discount ground beef from undisclosed sources. Brazil has had some recent issues. “A couple of other places” is certainly a concern. What are the safeguards? “Trust us bro” isn’t the best foot forward on this.

Garyf1982

To say that it is quality beef from Argentina is a pretty big leap of faith.

“It’s coming from Argentina. It’s coming from Brazil,” Trump said at an Oval Office event surrounded by ranchers and farmers. “It’s coming from a couple of other places."
