Just this week, Musk directly interfered in a war, essentially preventing our ally from defending themselves against an enemy of NATO. This is an act of war, commited by a private citizen, which is terrorism. It also begs the questions of where else a he might be acting against our interests. It absolutely this warrants an invetigation.
It also means that Musk cannot be trusted with infastructure that is critical to the defence of the US or our allies. This should start by seizing all control of Starshield and ensuring that only the Department of Defence has access to its operations. It is insane that the US government cannot say for certain who altered one of our military assets. The fact that Trump claims to not know, should be a way bigger scandal than it is.
SpaceX alone holds $22B in government contracts. Congress controls the budget. They have an obligation to ensure that the money is being spent approriately. Musk himself has stated that there is incredible waste among government contractors.
Now Musk is threatening Congress for having the audacity to do their jobs. This is, in fact, illegal.
This is the inevitable consequence of replacing the press with oligarchs as the 'forth pillar' of government, whihc was enabled by SCOTUS hampering congress from putting reasonable limits on money in politics and abandoning the constitutional interpretation in favor of politics.

Interestig that OP asked for specific studies or support of thinking, but I see little of that in responses.
From the abstract:
“…We obtained consistent and converging evidence that personality differences between liberals and conservatives are robust, replicable, and behaviorally significant, especially with respect to social (vs. economic) dimensions of ideology. In general, liberals are more open-minded, creative, curious, and novelty seeking, whereas conservatives are more orderly, conventional, and better organized."
This is another review paper, but it delves a little deeper into the physiological causes or prelecations for some of the personality differences. I found it particularly interesting that conservatives react more intently negative information and the perception of dangers and threat. In my opinion, this explains, at least in part, the nature of right-wing news outlet programming.
Lewis and Bates, 2011
This study is interesting because it suggests that the differences in personality type emerge from the fundamental differences in moral values between liberal and conservatives. The two most important moral values being individualizing (harm + fairness) and ‘binding’ (authority + in-group loyalty + purity). Difference in these moral values lead to difference in political alignment, but it is the moral values themselves that generate difference in personality traits.

Yep, I remember when I wanted to make almost every recioe in the magazines. The past couple, none have interested me. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

Okay, so propose your own explanation, with meathematical proofs, that explains how airplanes fly.
You are probably missing velocity?
IDK, in a scientist in a different discipline, but I'm pretty certain that this has been worked out empirically.
Manufacturers of airplanes that actually fly have use these equations to build more efficient airplanes. It is the basis of modern flight engineering.
What equations do you think are inaccurate and why?
We have a scientific process. We can work through this.
Why do you think that physics is conspiratorial? Do you think that planes work via magic?
You acknowledge that planes do work, right? Do you also acknowledge that they have become more efficient and safe over time?
Please tell us what you know about physics that the scientists don't get. Also, why your explanation is more plausible, with mathematics, than what has actually worked.
Waiting.

Jesus Christ. I would quit this group based on this PC.
I assume they have had feedback from other players.
Either way, at least they are at least self aware. The only negative experiences I've had as a player is with these "main character" (usually rogues) people who think it is okay for them to take aajot portion of the time I've set aside to play to go off on their own to be a dick and work against the party.
I will never play a game with these PCs again.
You should consider yourself lucky that they realize how fucked up this is on their own.
Why would you not allow them to make all of your lives better?

Wait, so you don't believe in physics? Maybe you are being sarcastic, but Bernoulli's Principle is real, mathematically and empirically proven in numerous contexts.

We I was a younger smart ass, I had a Halloween tradition where I would go to a grocery store and buy nothing but a bag of apples and a box of razors. If laugh for days at the look on the cashier's face. In retrospect, it probably wasn't helpful.

It was painful to watch. It reminded me of classmates giving book reports in elementary school, seriously.

Yet another example of the hypocrisy of this administration.
These people want you to die. They oppose things like vaccines and proven medicines that will keep you alive, while allowing corporations to make more money by killing you.
Wake up people.

The people will remember this, traitor.

Russia has a diesel deficit too. They have been filling it by buying diesel from Iran.
Trump's "brilliant" deal has us buying diesel from Russia, counteracting the money we spent to help Ukraine, to create a minimal change in our diesel prices while helping a country we are at war with.
Make this make sense. Please explain it to me.

When I see images like this I'm reminded of the fact that the US government intentionally tried to enter a bison to exterpate Native Americans.
Our government sent hunters out the plains to kill these animals with no intent to do anything with the meat or hides. The objective was the repression of people who were inconvenient.
I mention this because this is what MAGA is doing now.
They are trying to divide us with an us vs. them BS. They are telling us that is okay to dissolve our democracy if the alternative is that people who disagree are stopped.
They do this by asking question s about whom is in or out of different artificial groups.
We need to stop these attempts to divide us and start realizing that the oligarchs want us to keep hating each other because that is how they control us.

One of the coolest things that happened to me as a parent who loves to cook was having my son approach me and say, "I'm going to feel pretty dumb if I grew up with two of the best cooks I know and only know how to make ramen when I'm in college."
We did a little research and started with him being the sous chef, mostly knife skills and mise en place concepts.
He would then watch us compare the dish while we explained why things were done in the order they were and what the ingredients brought to the dish.
Next, we switched roles for his favorite dishes. We prepped and he cooked. As he was cooking, we tried to explain to him what he should be looking for to know if things are going well.
Meanwhile, he started getting essential cooking items for Christmas, birthdays, etc.
Now he is in college, cooks & preps for himself to save money, has a meal a week where he cooks for friends and housemates in hopes of inspiring them.
We share challenging videos and recipes that we want to execute together when we are together over Christmas or other holidays.
I could go on, but that practical question led to a source of binding as our relationship continues to evolve.
Often when I'm cooking with him now, I tell him how grateful I am for him challenging us to do better and taking it seriously. He usually responds in kind.
OP: We are scientists and educators, so we knew to research how to approach the lessons. Reading through the comments, you might not be so lucky, so you might need to take a little more initiative at first. Start with your favorite dish and ask your parents to walk you through it. Ask questions along the way.
You've got this! Congrats on showing initiative!

Every single person in that audience, except the reporters and paid personalities, are not working. One has to wonder if he has been hit in the head one too many times.

Okay, sure but most of us express out height as our current height. In Teumps's case this comes up because they release "the results" of his medical exams where they actually take measurements.

Nope!
As someone who has been in the receiving end of this shit for about 30 years, this is bad advice.
We should I just on science-based discussions.
We should also seek common grounds and then discuss how we can achieve multiple objectives from mutual objectives.
I have personally seen this work.
What has never worked, is allowing propaganda to be perceived as fact. If you cannot agree on truth, there is no perspective from business or marketing that will help.
I have never been in a discussion where people denying reality were suddenly persuaded by a marketing tactic.
These are people who are paid to convey a BS perspective that has no bearing on reality.
I have worked with economists, sociologists, and marketers who have made similar arguments. I have engaged them in research.
It doesn't fucking matter.
It is not the fault of their well-meaning intentions.
People who are willing to discard the best interests of their families for money can only be persuaded by money. This will never change. Thinking that you can bring them along is a fool erand.
What we actually need is fact-based attacks that call them out on the BS.
Your argument was the prevailing sentiment when we were trying to prevent catastrophic consequences. That is passed.
What we need, or only hope, it activism. We need to get angry.
We don't need people belittling science because they have a better way.
Science is important and I'm convinced the only way out of this mess.
Finally, it is not the job o scientists to learn marketing and political science. The latter always makes their research become demonic in the perspective of the opponents.
It has not helped, in fact it has made it worse.

Your wife is uncomfortable with this, you stated in comments why she might have PTSD about it.
Just fucking book your own riid m.
As someone who has been with. Someone for decades, this is not something to fight over. What will it cost you? A couple of dollars?
Keep fighting and you'll spend more on a single session of counseling. Much more on divorce.
There is something deeper happening here. Fighting will only make it worse.
If you still really love your wife, my advice is to let this go and after the trip have some deep discussions about what is really going on. Be supportive, you cannot know why this was so difficult.
Almost always, when we see people we love acting unexpectedly it has to do with something we do not understand.
You can keep fighting and tearing each other apart or you can choose to use this as an opportunity to understand each other better.
If you are willing to die on a hill that is a couple hundred dollars, maybe you need some introspection?
Emotions, by definition, are not entirely rational. There is so wrong else going on here.
IMO, you are missing the thread and people who are commenting based on the rational approach are too.

I'm not discounting your experience but it is a logical falacy to take one experience and then conclude it applies to everyone else.

and I actually saw this list and thought, "kindred spirit." Congrats!
Edit: except Nighthawls at the Diner;.
GeekSumsMe
Yes, but one star? At least for me that is an unlistenable category. Also, I'm unfairly annoyed by people who commit to a project to listen to the albums on the list and cannot be bothered to listen to the album through at least once.
Yes, there have been albums where this was painful for me, but more often I relisted and"got it". Maybe not to the extent that I'd listen to it on the regular, but I could see why people would live the music.
GeekSumsMe
This is one of my favorite albums of all time, but I think part of it was time and place.
I don't think there is a year of my life where it hasn't received at least a couple of plays since it was released.
I'm always looking for new music, and go through periods, so such staying power is not typical for me.
Some people are not a good fit for this project.

I'm pretty sure that OP will need to talk to a lawyer to file for bankruptcy anyways
Starshield is a military asset. They are a separate network of satelites, paid by tax dollars. SpaceX has contracts to maintain them and continue deployments, this includes several contracts to conduct this work for Ukraine too.
If Musk did this on his own, it is a private citizen comiting an act of war against sovereign nation, which is terrorism. It is also raises questions about allowing people outside of the Defence Department the capability to make unilateral decisions about essential defence assets.
Internet and satelite access are now fundamental to many aspects of our defence. Do we want to allow any private company or individual to have full control over whether these systems operate? What if a future Pesident orders an attack that Musk doesn't like? Should he, or anyone else, be able to make the decision to undermine it using our own assets? Trump should not need to "ask" Elon Musk to lift the slowdowns, the Departent of Defence should be able to order this. Musk should not be able to refuse this request.
It should terrify everyone that we are giving oligarchs the power to directly and unilaterally operate military weapons.
Of course it is also possible that Trump is lying and it was him who made the slowdown decision. If true, this raises other equally important and troubling questions. If true, Trump would be acting against Congress (again) and the stated objectives of the US and NATO. We have spent a lot of money helping Ukraine defend itself because it is in our national interest. In the US, this decision was bipartisan and included Congressional actions. As Commander in Chief Trump might be within his authority to order the slowdown, but there should be accountability for directly working against US interests.
There is not a scenario here where this isn't batshit crazy.
