Yup. I was playing daily for 3 weeks after 4.8 dropped. Had some bugs for sure but nothing game breaking. No shard locks or anything.

Played daily for 3 whole months when 4.0 dropped. Yeah it was a bit rough at times and did get shard locked twice for at most a day, but still playable and enjoyable.

It’s easier to come on Reddit and complain about things because there is nothing to gatekeep people. Someone doesn’t even need a SC account to come here and complain about SC. At least on Spectrum, the player experience someone brings up can be run down by CIG to see if it’s happening or not. And even there isn’t immune considering the whole reason the flight model testing is now being done with focus groups is because CIG ran down feedback by “players” in good faith only to discover those complaining the most weren’t even playing the game.

The only potential evidence we have some of this is real is Disco bringing up Reddit feedback in the last SCL with Benoit. But that is in fact the issue with even giving such Reddit feedback the time of day: how does he even know those complaining on Reddit are actual players?

And anyone who has been here any length of time knows damn well this sub often gets brigaded by refundians and other gaming sub members who see a post from here pop up on all/their main feed or when a Kotaku hit piece gets written and cross posted to gaming subs.

He’s pissed because he want AI tools to be used with UE to increase dev output and overall sales, and that wouldn’t be an issue for him if his storefront was actually used; game devs could pump out the slop on Epic, the consumer is completely in the dark about AI use, and sales would be enough to put the devs into the tier where they start paying Epic money for using UE.

But since his store sucks ass the devs have to go to Steam to get enough business to pay Epic for UE, which good luck with that given Steam labels AI slop games.

This jackass could just focus on fixing his stupid store and offering things to entice people to come over (migrate your Steam library would be perhaps the best thing they could do to win over people) rather than crying about Steam all the damn time.

Walking away when the game isn’t playing nice is valid advice. CIG marches to the beat of their own drum. The game progresses or improves because they want it to, not because we want it to and that is slow going to boot.

Not walking away when one should is how refundians are born. The resentment that comes from CIG “not caring” but someone is in so deep and locked in that they can’t get out until they reach their literal breaking point. That’s not healthy and far worse for the project long term than people giving each other a gut check once in a while and telling them to take a break before they reach that point.

It’s so rare for me to see someone who has been downvoted on Reddit to own to up to the reason they were downvoted. They often double down and resort to more extreme rhetoric or insults.

I suspect the community where data was gathered matters a great deal to the findings here. Ones where the subject of discussion is often part of someone’s identity (politics, sports teams, gaming, etc) where a challenge could be viewed as an “attack” on their person just seems more likely to elicit a bad response from them.

The article mentions they looked at the usage of over 17,000 Redditors across 32,000 subs. The sample size is huge so that certainly lends more credence to their findings.

It would be interesting to see the breakdown of the subs and their subject matter in question here.

The Patriot Act imposed similar requirements here over two decades ago via driver’s license and social security card being required to open a bank account (which undocumented immigrants wouldn’t have legally) so this issue was already solved.

The SAVE act specifically required a birth certificate that matches the person’s current legal name or a passport. The same will be required here.
