Edinburgh

Yes that’s the point

General_Move_3939

You’ve not been around enough mathematicians

General_Move_3939

You’d do better just beating the arcade games, maybe play Poker

General_Move_3939

As long as you’re not 100% sure, apply

General_Move_3939

It’s between LSE and St. Andrews imo

General_Move_3939

How does it end

General_Move_3939

Multiple ethnicities in India

Retard

They’re either really stupid or they solely want some positive affirmations for their grades. In either case they’re not worth comparing yourself to.

There are so many careers in the world which can cater to your skills and whatnot, why do you actually want to get into quant so bad other than social media?

General_Move_3939

Pls don’t apply to anything in Scotland for my sake 🙏

General_Move_3939

The things you described (mathematical capability and some passion) are kind of just prerequisites for quant research and not strictly indicators that the career is for you, especially if you spent a whole year trying to figure out what you want to do just to come to that conclusion.

Yes, one round of Jane Street interviews is a drug test to make sure you ARE on modafinil.

That was 17 whole years ago

Pretty good at being invested in a topic for a week then immediately pivoting away for no reason

General_Move_3939

It’s the best by far, but it’s not the only place to get a good or decent career. Zurich Paris Milan Frankfurt Stockholm Glasgow Edinburgh Manchester and many more decent ones, but not close to London.

General_Move_3939

Super cliche but genuinely invest all my money

University isn’t top-tier and the resume has too much engineering for a financial role. Extremely proven engineers can get quant roles, but for internships you’re still below the typical finance/math/programming heavy candidates.

General_Move_3939

Yeah, as in a student from a non target in Bulgaria who got first in the IMC (International Mathematics Competition for University Students)

General_Move_3939

A lot of the top mathematicians, the same ones who are generally incapable of solving said conjectures even when they’re older, are also „ultrahigh-IQ”.

General_Move_3939

Shit this might be the only way to stand out in this applicant pool

General_Move_3939

Who are you talking about? Sky and scroll are good fighters and at the end of the day you just watched an OCE team win off spawn against a team who was like 50 points ahead of 2nd, 50/50 offspawns aren’t purely skill.

General_Move_3939

Mathematics but it’s very hit or miss. You’re open to most financial roles on the basis that an experienced mathematician or physicist can easily learn finance and has a very valuable way of thinking. You’re also open to everything to do with AI which is very mathematically dense. Financial/AI/academic researcher roles generally require postgraduate degrees, often PhDs.

They could smell your attitude through the screen
