By all signs, this is going to happen very soon. Astra Pro is already extremely capable in math, and non-trivial number of open problems is one prompt away from being solved.

Mathematicians already publish results made solely by AI, and verified by hand. If you have $100 OpenAI subscription, just keep throwing open problems that you find in the literature, you will be surprised how many of them are solvable.

Bel, reasearch model behind Navier-Stokes and recent 721-paper dump, is even more capable.

You can reasonably expect that in two years basically all research questions like that will be either solved or missing necessary experimental data.

Ale skąd wziąłeś "mniej pracy"? Jest jakiś zakaz zatrudnienia ich, czy co?

Ginden

Yes, I have a custom skill with 40 examples of bad tests with explanation why that test is bad.

We can see these people were rational: personally I can find much better uses for my $100 than paying to watch a guy eat dog poop, but economist in question seemingly believed to be the most pleasurable entertainment obtainable for $100, aka he really likes that.

A teraz nie będą wypracowywać PKB, czy jak?

Higher payments are transferred to customers

How do you think unions work?

Ginden

Data centers are extremely more efficient at throughput compared to any local AI that's not even a competition. Blackwell server GPUs generate trivially 10x more tokens per unit of energy than customer toys.

Ginden

Thinking effort is, literally, thinking effort. What happens if you force someone to think too much about a very simple problem? They start trying to invent problems to solve. Medium/low are good everyday drivers.

Unless you understand well what you are doing, I would just recommend using Tailscale. Maintaining Internet exposed endpoints requires regular work, and it's getting harder every day.

Ginden

for data under an NDA that’s the part you can’t do.

Security theatre threat model, NDA should explicitly include these or pay enough to rent GPUs/servers as needed.

Ginden

I just respond, "Feel free to copy this without AI, ideas are not copyrighted." There is no point in discussing it further, don't get dragged into defending it.

Ginden

Are you really shocked that Anthropic doesn’t want to open themselves up to legal liabilities

Except for a little fact that service providers are generally not liable for non-lawful actions of user if they don't encourage them.

Ginden

Security theatre threat model. If you are a normal company, typical ZDR agreements are good enough. If you are under stricter security model, you are working for multi-billion corporation and you can afford local GPU rack.

People routinely mistake money and stuff that can be buy for money, because that approximation works until you start spending billions of dollars on monthly basis.

Ginden

Increased demand for electricity while we still have not decarbonized our grid is bad, but the best you can do for CO2 emissions is to buy PV or vote for building more clean power.

There has been an increase in income inequality and we absolutely should do something about that.

It's not obvious whether that is real or mostly compositional effects (e.g. older people make more money, aging society will see its income inequality change, despite no individual person's life trajectory changing), and how much of that is accounting artifacts.

Biology spent billions of years trying the most nonsensical combinations, it would be very improbable if no virus accidentally stumbled upon "kill all life" cheat code if such cheat code can exist.

I would think there's every reason to suspect it because if their policy was to never use the data to train, and they confidently followed their policy, they could have said none of the data was used to train

Their policy is not to never use the data to train. Their policy is to not use data of users who didn't consent to use their data for training.

Simple code like:

if (user.trainingAllowed) sendToTrainingAnonymizationQueue(request, llmResponse); return llmResponse;

will result in inability to quickly verify if chats were or were not used for training, if you don't track history of trainingAllowed flag.

Yes, it's highly specific to your area of work and openness of your tasks. Certain types of work never end, for example, improving performance, fraud detection, predictive algorithms, and no PR "solves" performance. If you do generative terrain generation in game, there is no "solution", only better or worse design choices, often with many dimensions.

If you do features for well defined stakeholders, then, indeed, code production is rarely a bottleneck.

In market, today's prices are generally an average of market expectations of mid-term prices. So, it's rarely worth delaying purchases in expectation of prices dropping, unless you accept the risk of prices rising.

It's simple: if I expected that storage prices will double next year, I would hoard storage to sell later, instead of selling it at now. If I expect them to drop, I would just move some of my data to rented storage, and buy actual storage later.

Yes, marriage is widely considered a positive event, and people dream of getting married, while people also dread divorce and put significant efforts to avoid it.
