I mean, I built GrandPrixPicks.com 😅 This is how I do predictions with friends and family for Formula 1 Quali and Race sessions.

It's got a feed feature where you can see how the people you follow did in their predictions. You can also create private leagues, but we're only at around 40 users so it's easy to just measure how we do against each other on the global leaderboard for now. I send email reminders for users to remind them to make their picks every weekend (you can opt out of these quite easily).

We still use WhatsApp to chat about things though throughout the weekends.

If anyone does end up trying this out, let me know if there are any important features that you feel are missing. Busy working on iOS and Android apps for this too.

Well done Christian Ho 🫡 Congrats on all you've achieved in your career so far at such a young age. It'd be super cool to see a comeback story after his service. But even if he goes on to pursue other things afterwards, wishing all the best 🎉

Nah, if something sits in my head for more than a week, I start building it. If I'm not motivated to go ahead and build it. I abandon the idea.

My main one is GrandPrixPicks.com which is basically a Formula 1 fantasy vibe but without the weird budget stuff. You literally guess the top 5 drivers in order and teammate head to heads, then get points accordingly. Quite fun to play in leagues with friends/family. In my experience (especially in this new AI era), a lot of projects do get finished.

They just launch on deaf ears.

I built a Sudoku app a few years ago and just slapped an Admob banner on it and interstitial ad when starting new games (after completing the first one for the day).

I feel pretty bad because I basically stopped maintaining it, but it still brings in like $2 a day in ad revenue.

I recently released a new one that is way less intrusive with ads and has extra little features like daily puzzles. Now that I've got that done, I'd actually like to go back to the original one polish it a bit since it's got a few happy users.

Max did a phenomenal job given what he had to work with today. Isack also did a pretty solid teamwork job today, just like his work in qualifying last week at Spa 😄

I would love advice on how things can be improved here 😅 I'm good at building, but crap at design. So what I've got so far just doesn't feel right...

Basically for F1 fans to predict the top 5 for a race weekend (quali and the race), also the teammate head-to-heads. You get points for how close you were etc.

There's a nice leaderboard to see how you stacked against others. I've got a few friends and family using so it's been nice to play with throughout the season. The defaults for the leaderboards are weekend specific so you don't feel FOMO for dropping in mid season.

There is a leagues feature that will probably feel more useful if it grows to beyond just my small circle.

I've started building a mobile app for this too, but want to focus a bit more on growth before continuing with that.

This is pretty impressive! :D Gives me track mania vibes, which is probably what you were going for... The ghost car was a pleasant surprise :)

That's a pretty epic idea 😅 When my kids are older, this will certainly come in handy 😁
