It’s not the RP that bothers me, it’s the downtime commitment. In the few campaigns I’ve played, getting that much downtime has been uncommon.

Here’s my question that’s kept me from playing with a pet: how big of a pain in the ass is dealing with the one week downtime to revive a dead or take a new pet?

Is it worth not taking something that doesn't require three feats for my Free Archetype to keep from pushing EA back to lvl 8? IE: Skipping archer, a caster dedication, hedge mage, etc

Yep. I coached middle school track for quite some time and that's the hardest part - teaching them not to "jump" but just take a looong stride over it. Once that clicks, life gets much easier for them
