Yes, I did this on a Windows machine. Claude walked me through setting up Windows Subsystem for Linux and emOS is running in a docker. I'm impressed with how quick and responsive it is. I'm still trying to get oriented with interacting with it. I've got two more Dots that I want to bring in now that I've got my feet wet.
Thanks again!

I literally had my wife come over to me and hand me her old 1st gen Kindle Paperwhite, which has been sitting in the bottom of a drawer for years! She asked me if I wanted this for anything and my first reaction was to jump on Claude and ask if it was feasible to use this in Home Assistant. Then I came here and BAM... here's your post. I'm following and watching closely!

Want to give a shoutout to /ubboe for your work on this project! I just completed the entire project and have my first "Hey Jarvis" device. It was more complicated than I expected, setting up docker in Windows and having to work with Linux commands. Fortunately Claude held my hand at every step and I don't think I would have made it through without its help.
Ultimately, kudos to you! Thank you!

Why is the entire photo softly blurry and out of focus except for that black triangle?

Are you willing to accept the liability should something happen? Is it worth $25. If you accept money, you also accept liability if one of them slips and injures themselves.
The better response is to say you're not comfortable with anyone using your dock.

I'm 73 and I still don't know how to act my age...I've never been this old before.

How much $$ is she contributing to this effort...or is it up to you to pay for it all after six years of marriage at this stage of your lives.

My crawlspace is vented, and I'm not contemplating full encapsulation at this time. Merely wondering if proper floor barrier and some insulation boards on the concrete foundation walls will be of help

Wow...did this bring back memories! Are the windows actually floating, or are they fixed?

I'm 73 and have been a tech aficionado since my days of working as a console operator on IBM mainframe systems back in the 70's. For home automation, I started with X10 back in the 90's, moved to Smartthings, and am now exploring Home Assistant. I love the granular control HA offers, but I also hate the level of deep understanding it demands. Honestly, at this stage of my life, without AI, I I would walk away from Home Assistant.
But with Claude, I am a project manager and I have a team of coders working with me. I can conceive a goal, work with AI to find the solution, and have the code written for me before it's time for bed.
AI (Claude, for me) makes Home Assistant a realistic pursuit for someone my age. I have no real interest in learning YAML. I just want stuff to work and move on to my other pursuits.
What I hope to find on this sub? Useful applications that solve real world problems. I don't care if the code came from Claude, or a YAML guru who spent 40 hours refining it.
With the help of AI I've built a full featured air quality monitor with color screen and a bluetooth proxy to control a septic alarm. I've learned a few things along the way, so it's all good.

What actually is eco mode and how does it save fuel?

Don't let the old man in. Don't give in.

I had the Mako procedure on both knees and was about where this guy is after a week. I only used a walker for one day, then a cane for one day, and that was it. I do believe the Mako procedure is less traumatic, or so I've been told.

Yes! I have numerous Yolink devices inside and out and the batteries last for years!

This is a wonderful example of how AI can help average people find solutions. Congratulations! This is a grreat example of what AI is.

I love my knees! They are a miracle. Ltkr 2023 at 70 + Rtkr 2024 at 71. My surgeon is a saint! No pain. No aches. No problems.

This is the orginal Honeywell T10 wiring.

This is how I wired it, following Ecobee instructions.

Focus on your life right now. Don't dwell on the past or obsess about an unknown future. The only thing that matters is right now. I'm not saying you shouldn't learn from your past, or prepare for your future. You can't change the past, but you can certainly plan for your future.
For reference, I'm 73, and all I care about is right now. It's really all that matters.

So, if he's thinking about it now...

Have you considered Yolink devices? They have incredibly long range. I use 15 of their leak sensor and a handful of dry contact sensors. You integrate to HA using your account API key.

This is not your responsibility. Tell them you are incapable of taking care of their dog, or any dog. Be firm. They wanted a dog. Not you.

I had this same problem moving our new American Standard heatpump from a Honeywell T10 to the Ecobee Enhanced. Not until I received my first $400 heating bill did I realize the heatpump never comes on. I immediately went back to the T10.
Admittedly, I'm a bit out of my depth on all of this. I followed instructions provided by Claude. My understanding is that Echomuse needed to run on Linux? I'm also curious about the two forks: one that retains Alexa functionality and the other that replaces it entirely with emOS. Can you briefly offer examples of pros and cons for each?
