That kid's going places.

Nah, a Polkageist is not possible, because...POLKA WILL NEVER DIE!

HalcyonKnights

Hmm, That basically just boils down to how to kill a robot spren with a steel body in the physical Realm. I think you'd need to first neutralize his active destruction capability, either with a powerful suppression field or by over-feeding Nightblood until he enters that torpor state. Then you'd need to physically destroy his body (ie the blade), purge his internal investiture (without waking him up), or or scramble enough of his Spiritual aspects (Identity, Connections, Investiture tuning, etc) to unravel the "spell" that built him in the first place.

HalcyonKnights

OOH, this is fun!

So, counterpoint: Per WOB both Preservation and Ruin had a drive to Create, which is why they went in together to create a planet. So Ruin as a part of the cycle of Creation might be compatible.

As far as him eating a Dawnshard, I think it's possible, or at least more possible than it would be for him to eat an actual Shard, or a Planet, etc. simply because a Dawsnhard fits into the space of a single little Mural on a wall. Which means Dawnshards are incredibly Potent, but not actually that Massive in terms of raw Investiture. But that potency makes me think that Nightblood could not eat one without being significantly changed by it, perhaps even Overriding his own core Command (or modifying it in the direction of the Dawnshard in question).

HalcyonKnights

Oh, no, that's almost certainly it. In a follow-up WOJ somebody asked him if Rashid was "really that old, or was it time travel?" and the answer was that he was really that old but that "we just happen to be on the slow boat" which I assume means he's spending time in the Fast Lane to still be here.

HalcyonKnights

I think it might be that the profile is so similar to several other things.

Rashid is significantly older that the 14th century, not sure about the 6th.

Yes, and supposedly the Orders that are most compatible are the ones who's Ideals are the most Personalized, which is Lightweavers, Elsecallers, and (oddly) the Skybreakers. Lightweavers just have to be very self-aware and Truthful with themselves as they progress, Elsecallers just need to be working toward continuous self-betterment, and Skybreakers just need to seek some sort of outside Guidance (which can easily be the Oaths of another Radiant or Order.

If you added Dustbringer on top as a person who respects the restraint of Power and wants to delve into the workings of things, you'd have 4 very Internalized and/or customizable sets of Ideals, with room for one more that could be more action restrictive like Windrunners, Edgedancers, or Bondsmiths.

Personally, I think that's the most likely combination and it would give one person fully halve the orders and soo many surges...

HalcyonKnights

Nice! Is that foil coated something, or did you cast it?

HalcyonKnights

Im going to go out on a limb and say you cant use Lightweaving to Create any new investiture, since that should require a Connection to the Spiritual Realm and on Roshar that mostly means access to a Shard's Perpendicularity.

But ROW was all about showing how you can manipulate Lights with Sound to the point of converting it into Anti-Light, which should be right in Lightweaving's wheelhouse. And we have a lot of WOB's that confirm the Rhythms and the Tones and things (ie. that bronze Mistings can detect) are Cosmere-wide phenomena.

HalcyonKnights

Cheapest option? A used sledgehammer head mounted in a log. Seriously.

Same, it's definitely the way I go in my weapons factory, for example.

HalcyonKnights

You can, though I've come to think Iron Pipe isnt worth it for high-volume production. It just takes so much iron per pipe, and is so very slow. In for the quantities you need for motors find it's worth the Coal to use the Steel recipe. But that might just be me.

HalcyonKnights

Congratulations! I can barely imagine how much effort it took to make it this far in your recovery.

"The most important step a person can take is the next one. It's not the first one, is it? It's the next one. Always the next step." (--Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer)

HalcyonKnights

Nah mate, for Motor production it's Steel Rotors all the way. That way your stators and rotors have the same two ingredients, so you can make motors with a much smaller footprint/complexity.

HalcyonKnights

I just want to toss out that Rocket Fuel beats batteries (on fuel value and matches on speed) and the OP already has that factory built. Ever since they let drones use multiple fuels there is really no reason at all to make batteries, as far as I've found.

But, if we're already talking about Nuclear so we dont mind Radiation, the Fuel Rods themselves are faster still and last 10xx as long.

HalcyonKnights

The green swamp. One of the uranium nodes is already there, as is nearly every other resource you could need. It also has a pretty large section of ocean available thanks to the bend in the coastline for the Dune Desert.

HalcyonKnights

Lightweavers, IMO that's why Hoid wanted to be one. Transformation is pretty obviously OP. Lightweaving is all-purpose Waveform Manipulation, which we've now learned can extend to direct manipulation of Investiture (t least the Lights) as well as Identity manipulation (though it could be a resonance between Ligthtweaving and Soulcasting, or perhaps something more exotic thanks to her unique circumstances).

Lift + Nutrition Compounding would be a way to plug Surges into Preservation's power grid.

I personally think you could use Soulcasting to make a Soulstamp Permanent (using the soulstamp for the detail and Soulcasting for the permanent Spiritweb change), but that's just a theory.

I suspect if you could manage to get Transformation and Regrowth you'd be able to do something akin to fleshcrafting, but that's definitely headcanon/fanfic territory.

Per WOB you can store both "real" wakefulness and the fake wakefulness of caffeination, but it'll feel different. This makes me think you could Store the emotional excitation of holding Stormlight, to calm the experience down.

Leechers would be dangerous as hell to a world relying on stored Investiture like, Nalthis or Roshar.

According to their website, the tabs are higher grade aluminum than the rest of the can and they don't have all the plastic coatings to remove, so they're easier (and thus more profitable) to recycle.

There's also the crowd that wants to cosplay as Inspector Gadget's niece. I can't be the only one who thought that, right?

Joking aside, apparently the asymmetry had historical meaning (in some turn of the century England occultism revival era's). Which is actually kind of neat.

You just want to pick fights with strangers on the Internet where you can feel powerful.  We all have our things.
