Wait, what? I guess whoever came up with that thought that they had to supply those chain attacks.
Honestly, what’s the best channel to start discussing changing this?
Hedshodd
Init commit was 2 days ago, AGENT.md in the repo… yeah, it’s slop.

If “from inception” means when you’re starting to split up the crate. You shouldn’t start a project (at least a green field one) with separate crates because you won’t know where the crate boundaries post split are actually going to be, leading to either massive pain refactoring or writing yourself into a corner where you’re sacrificing proper architecture and/or performance just not to reorganize the split crates you have.
Same reason you should never start with abstractions when writing something new; just write the code that does the job and does it well first, and that’s when you’ll see where the actually useful interfaces and boundaries are.
Sorry for the rant 😄

I’m not one to link Wikipedia often, but: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux 😄

I guess we still won’t be able to control the fan curves yet though? Or have I just missed that? 😅
Hedshodd
We all know you’re lying. It’s because that’s what the clanker set up for you. Editions aren’t compatibility barriers, everyone taking 5 seconds to read what they are knows that.

40 megs isn’t “lightweight” for a terminal lol. I would love to be proven wrong (I’m not trusting this enough to install it to any of my machines) but there is probably no way in heck that this thing is even remotely performant considering the tech involved.
Hedshodd
Splitting your project into too many crates is a thing, because at some point your just increasing link time too much. That IS where a faster linker will help you though.
Also try and see if you can switch out serde for a faster alternative (there’s plenty, but they don’t all support the same frontends).
Speaking of dependencies, heads up that chrono is soft deprecated, and the author suggests moving to jiff.
Hedshodd
Oh, I misread your question. I thought you were asking whether you would have enough LP once you reach level 40.
Hm, I’m really not sure about that. You could clear the swamp and new camp before the end to get another or two, but the last dungeon also gives you plenty. My guess is that it’ll be enough 😄
Hedshodd
Unless they changed the circle cost in the remake compared to the original, you would make it exactly. Circle 5 is 30 LP, and circle 6 is 40. Make sure you learn 5 soon though, because I’m not sure how many trainers there are for that, and the one I’m thinking of could potentially be pretty pissed at you at the end of chapter 5.

Yo, bro, what was your prompt for this AI piece?
Hedshodd
No, because we don’t actually need the additional safety guarantees. Add to that the high learning curve making it virtually impossible to onboard anyone else on the team to work on that component (the performance critical core component of our product), and that the slow compiler makes any sort of work on the code incredibly frustrating because feedback loops are way too long… yeah, no. I like Rust for things that need to be safe and fast, but if you just need fast Rust is a waste of time on multiple axis.
Hedshodd
You have A LOT to learn about performance and about compiler optimizations.
Hedshodd
I’ve been doing software development in one form or another for almost two decades. Releasing anything non-critical on a Friday (as in “otherwise our servers burn down”-critical) is WILD to me. Nevermind how badly things seem to be tested, JFC don’t release stuff right before a holiday or the weekend.
I love this game (when it works), but this isn’t just inexperience, it’s amateurish.
Hedshodd
You will miss important concepts that way in general. Running into problems, doing mistakes, and learning from them, that’s how humans actually learn efficiently and well. Just letting the AI do the hard work and trying to learn from that won’t get you far.
Hedshodd
So which model wrote this slop?
Hedshodd
They’re allocators? What’s your point? You even provided the prime example for how to avoid having to track every free to every malloc, which is arenas. Literally in your example, there is no free to be seen anywhere in the arena section. Thank you for saving me the effort of tracking down an example myself lol
Hedshodd
“Dummy” has way more meanings than someone being dumb. Maybe don’t get triggered by a chat bot calling you names, especially when you are then acting like a dummy as well. Chill.
Hedshodd
They aren't manually calling malloc and free. Neither is any serious Zig codebase, or C codebase for that matter. We aren't living in in the 90's anymore, these thing's have been solved by way easier to use (and more performant) mechanisms.

It wasn’t „up to date” 4 days ago. Fedora 41 is almost 2 years old; which is old for fedora, because they usually assume that you do major version updates at least once a year… which in bazzite should be automatic, so have you disabled auto updates somehow? Or was there some kind of manual intervention should have been performed for one of those upgrades since?
Hedshodd
I respect it but I don’t agree with it.
You aren’t respecting it. You wouldn’t keep this up if you did. Whether you agree with them on technical or legal terms is completely irrelevant, because them declining a patch is not a legal issue, it’s policy. The policy has a legal basis, but it simply doesn’t matter for a case like this. They can just decide not to accept your patch for whatever reason they want and that’s that.

Swap the display cords plugged in your GPU around.
Thank you! I’ll see what I can do once I’m back from vacation.
