I’ve found that they definitely take on flavors. I discovered it by accident after smoking only one blend in one of my cobs - the vanilla cream flavor is growing deeper and richer every smoke.

Takes practice!  But also:

Consider dedicating a cob to a single aromatic - mixing them all in a single pipe causes a confused taste profile.

Be very careful when lighting and smoking to keep the tobacco cool.  Light only the top crust. Sip more gently than you think, smoke slower than you think. Less smoke the better.  Dump the ash and keep the top of the tobacco flat so convection doesn’t cause hot spots.

I’d force the conversation and never ever mention age or keeping up, etc.  Just say that you need to know within the next two weeks so you can onboard someone by thanksgiving - as you don’t want to do so while you’re heavily pregnant (just in case you need bed rest, etc). 

What you don’t want is for her to delay to position herself for a Christmas bonus, etc and then bail afterwards.

I listen to the podcast on occasion - not sure if it’s the same guy, but he really likes to hear himself talk and is rather sycophantic to industry guests. I figure that it’s their business, if they treat members badly, they’ll learn their lessons.

Things go sour, she reports that she never got paid or that you forced her to go off the books and you’re on the hook. 

 You’ve got a family to protect.

As a parent, a long timeline is best - so tell them asap, say you’re available until thanksgiving week.  Gives them plenty of time to look for a replacement.  And for you to find your next thing, whether another nanny job or something else.  You can be honest and just say that you’re worn out and want to try a new career.  Text them over a weekend and talk the dad about logistics if he’s easier.

I wonder if they’re talking about nicotine uptake?  Oral versus pulmonary?

That part I don’t care about, as I like nicotine :)

Between the breath method and other experiments, what I have discovered is that a piper really needs to sip more than you think you need to. Way slower to keep temps and smoke at a minimum.  A bowl will last a lot longer , taste better and be a lot more relaxing.

If I enjoy the aftertaste, I keep it for a while.  Before I see the wife, I’ll Floss, brush, mouthwash, and take a shower.  Peanut butter helps with any residual taste.

If you have mouth injuries or dental work or perio, you shouldn’t smoke at all (or nicotine) until healed.

This would be worth a YouTube series of you (or someone) reading the book while puffing a pipe
