Interested in the watch. Would you consider trading for Pokemon cards?

I typed up the same thing and hit comment before reading this comment. I totally agree.
Children need to fail.
I think modern parents are burdened with too much information, pressured too much by social media to measure up, and living in too much fear to give their children the opportunity to learn by failing. We have little patience to let them work from a discombobulated state to a happy state on their own. They won’t learn to be independent and resilient without having independent and resilient moments to practice.

I sometimes wonder if our hyper individualization and strong personal preferences makes it hard for a village.
I’m East Asian American and a child of immigrants. Growing up, my parents were very much about the collective whole as a culture. The village is possible due to high trust and reliance on collective expertise and support.
But as an American, our culture is about independence, individualization, and our own strong opinions. That could lead to a low trust culture where we are more hesitant to rely on others. There’s a thousand micro decision when it comes to parenting. And one could easily give you “the ick”
Friends of mine brought their half white half Asian baby back to Asia to visit family. And the baby was immediately out of sight being passed around for the aunties and uncles to co-parent. That seems unlikely to happen here.
I wonder if our perception and standards (individualized definition) of a “village” is too perfect and too high based our own preferences. And because of that, villages are hard to establish because we don’t want those tradeoffs.
It’s something I often chat with my (white) wife about and also discuss in therapy. I think if we want help and support, it might not come in the exact flavors we want. Can we accept that or not is the big question.
Either I’m a great writer or you’re a terrible reader. And I’m def not a strong writer. I’ve already made like 10 edits due to poor grammar, misspellings, and better phrasing.
At the least, you’re a very lazy critic. Or just some bot responding to karma farm. Find something better to critique with than “AI slop”.
