Ah, so it is - having taken a 2 hour plane ride to Lulea (Sedna in the model) from Stockholm, that is also a really cool demonstration of how vast the solar system is! 1:20,000,000 scale

Hidden_Bomb

There’s an even larger scale version in rural New South Wales centred around the observatory in the Warrumbungle national park - it’s a 1:38,000,000 scale of the solar system, meaning Pluto is 200km away from the sun! I did the drive away and couldn’t get over how vast the solar system was. A very cool way of getting some sort of perspective!

Fuck the haters - this is a cool hobby game and I’m glad you’re enjoying building it! There’s nothing wrong with using AI in this as long as you’re being transparent about it.

Hidden_Bomb

You’ve got it in your own comment, all of those solutions at this time, cannot meet demand.

Hidden_Bomb

Thanks, AI!

You didn’t even bother formatting the response.

Hidden_Bomb

Punctuation. Use it.

How did they achieve that with an aluminium fuselage? My understanding was that the fuselage material changes were fairly limited.

Fair challenge, but I think "literally no downside" only holds if you're happy staying on your veteran account and never interacting with anyone who switches. For a lot of people that wasn't the reality.

A few concrete downsides as originally announced:

  • Veterans were the only ones locked out of worlds. Reignited characters could play on veteran worlds and their own exclusive ones; veterans got veteran worlds only. That's less access for the people who've been subscribing the longest.
  • You couldn't play with friends who switched. No trading, no shared boss instances. If your clanmates went Reignited, your bossing group just evaporated unless you abandoned your account too.
  • Following them meant paying twice. After the 10-day free period, Reignited was going to need its own separate membership. RS already doesn't let you run multiple characters on one sub, so joining friends on the fresh start would have meant a second subscription on top of the one you've been paying for years.
  • Opting in meant starting from zero. No transfers. If you wanted the "clean" version of the game, the price was throwing away 10 to 20 years of progress.
  • "Just don't play it" ignores where the game was heading. If new players, returning players and a chunk of the existing base move to the new economy, the veteran side thins out: fewer people for group content, a slower GE, less reason to log in. You don't have to opt in to feel that.

None of that makes Jagex's goal wrong. A fresh economy free of the MTX baggage is a genuinely good idea. But "nobody's forced to play it" isn't the same as "nobody's worse off." Jagex apologising to veterans who felt pushed aside, and putting the exclusive worlds and separate membership under review, kind of concedes the point.

Why have you got to be so inflammatory?

Hidden_Bomb

Same on BATC - feels like every second time I fly into a busy airport that I get given a go around because BATC doesn’t ever use holds. I’d love if instead of being told to fly minimum approach speed 20 miles out and still do a go around, I get told 10 minutes earlier to use the hold that is shown on the procedures.

Hidden_Bomb

That’s a completely fair opinion to have. Unfortunately it doesn’t leave very much room for compromise with a loyal player base that I’m a part of. And when push comes to shove, Jagex were probably seeing a lot of cancellations from otherwise happy players that made them reverse course.

A fresh start shouldn’t be done at the expense of a loyal fan base that have poured 1000s of hours into a game to develop characters that they’re proud of.

Hidden_Bomb

The issue is that this move was total baby out with the bathwater stuff. There were ways to do this without telling people who’ve spent over 20 years in the game that they were effectively phasing out their accounts. And it’s not as if lots of these players had any say in the MTX decisions that Jagex (not the player base) made. So they penalised their most loyal playerbase to get new players?

It’s dumb business either way. I suspect what actually caused Jagex to reverse course was the number of cancellations from their existing base that they probably didn’t anticipate.

Why they couldn’t do fresh start and merge after 6 months I have no idea…

Hidden_Bomb

Oh come on mate - that is a pretty vast oversimplification. Police have been targeting the high level organised crime as well. It’s not like there’s some magic technology that can be wheeled out to identify the containers - and before you say x-ray or CT, keep in mind the infrastructure and time required per cargo to screen effectively would be cost prohibitive and completely unpalatable.

Hidden_Bomb

Cool - then we just develop a PS5 emulator? (Said tongue in cheek)

Hidden_Bomb

I did the same. Only thing they’ll actually listen to. I’m definitely not playing a game where any further progress will be tainted.

That is the exact kind of attitude that concerns European allies. You're a walking example of why Europe needs sovereign capabality. Because the average American voter doesn't give a fuck about what happens in other countries, even if the US-led rules based world order brought great benefit to your life, and it's erosion will cause a drop in your living standards.

Hidden_Bomb

Great… well it’s a good thing the US hasn’t elected a Russian agent to the presidency twice in the last 12 years… oh wait. The US has proven it is an unreliable ally now, and that order could change rapidly based on the temper tantrums of a toddler when he doesn’t get trade concessions from someone.

These lobbying bodies and ratings board cunts in Australia are fucking religious lunatics that will stop at nothing to tell law-abiding, consenting adults what they can and cannot do.

Hidden_Bomb

Even if all layers of the glass shatter, the multiple layers of polymer reinforcement would more than be able to hold your weight. Your concern is understandable, but something that is no more valid than a person with a fear of flying on commercial aircraft.

Looking only at the wide-body fleet, capacity absolutely will drop nominally, even if they take all of their options. And it will mark a large shift to business and premium cabins while removing economy seats.

Class Today (54 a/c) Firm 36 a/c With ~20 options (56 a/c, est.)
First 140 72 72
Business 2,110 ~1,900 ~3,050
Premium Economy 992 ~1,410 ~2,260
Economy 12,994 ~6,360 ~10,360
Total 16,236 ~9,740 ~15,740
Premium share 20% ~35% ~34%

Qantas has not published the A35K or 787-10 layouts, so the figures above use my estimates for those two types (~300 and ~293 seats respectively, at a premium mix consistent with recent Qantas practice)

Narrow-body fleet will largely stay the same in capacity.

Hidden_Bomb

As a P1 myself, I say this all begrudgingly. The loyalty program is trash, the service is not as good, and the prices are higher vs competitors on the way to Europe. They're still positioning themselves as a luxury brand to Australians, and people seem willing to pay a premium for their beloved status credits and points.

Hidden_Bomb

This’ll do the opposite. Qantas will actually be dropping seat capacity and increasing premium cabin space. Unfortunately Qantas is not a national airline anymore, it’s positioning itself as exclusive and luxury focused. For everyone else there’s Jetstar…

Hidden_Bomb

The 350 in QF spec economy will beat QF spec 380. And it’s still possible to fly Emirates to Europe for the foreseeable… agree on trans-pacific though.

Hidden_Bomb

Ok.

You try getting that profile of shot like what’s in the OP… I think you’ll find there’s an exceptionally limited window of having that viewpoint above the plane with the nose down. You need to be at the right gate when it arrives.

All I’m saying is that not all shots of the Concorde on the ground are like that. In fact, the iconic promotional shots of the Concorde fleet on the ground nearly always had the nose up.
