I’m in the same boat. 11 years WFH the last four while living alone with just my dog. The feelings of isolation are at unhealthy levels. Tried getting a job in the office and even a part-time job just to have other people to socialize with and it has been impossible.

I didn’t completely lose my sense of smell. I always thought my ex wife had the nose of a bloodhound. I had some issues with my ulnar nerve that I thought was contributing to the issues. After multiple MRIs my ulnar was cleared and I was back to square one.

What’s disappointing was after six months of multiple appointments I was finally able to see a neurologist. He couldn’t understand why my right side was so rigid and just sent me for more MRIs. The next day his PA called me and suggested that I see the other doctor in the clinic. It was that doctor’s PA who asked me a dozen questions about the unseen PD symptoms which I answered “yes” to most. She had me do the finger taps and spiral test. She left the room and came back ten minutes later after confirming with the doctor that it was YOPD.

Typing is a required skill for my job. My right hand wasn’t keeping up with the left and I noticed a lack of swing in my arm when I walked. I hindsight I would have to say it was the loss of my sense of smell
