Just because a skilling method involves other players doesn’t make it a minigame. And I personally don’t think a core training method is inherently supposed to make it the highest xp rate method. I think there should always be alternative training methods and the more afk they are the less xp they give, whereas the more you interact the more xp you get.

Edit: also at the end of the day this isn’t an xp balancing update. It’s a general balancing update which this increase in gathering % does.

Hypercamb

Is it just me or are people missing the point behind this?

I've never used gathering as the training method after level 70. Once you hit 70 just do hall of memories and join the fc for it. You get anywhere from 100-300k xp/hour depending on level and input. You can also go to GoE and get pretty good div xp rates there if you're just using it to train.

They even explicitly say the point of this is to increase gathering rates, not xp.

True but even then, this game is one of the best and cheapest MMO’s on the market right now. The only thing you have to pay for is a membership. There’s no expansions you have to buy, no deluxe editions, nothing. You pay your membership and get thousands upon thousands of hours worth of content to play and weekly updates with tons of new content all the time. It boggles my mind that people complain about a price increase that costs about as much as one night of pizza for an entire years worth of entertainment. And that content can range anywhere from second monitor to high apm.

Hypercamb

I think it’s so ironic how pre-mtx removal, everyone said they would happily pay higher membership prices if they got rid of mtx. Fast forward to today and now everyone’s complaining about the increase in membership prices and they are cancelling or not renewing after mtx removal.

People joke that we cant trust jagex, but I wonder if stuff like this makes jagex not trust the player base.

My biggest hope that it will essentially be open source just like runelite; where players can think of and create plugins as they'd like.
Apart from that, here are some ideas I had or plugins I'd like brought over from runelite.

Farming Runs: Shows all patches and pens and lets you create/share customizable farming run routes and share what items/teleports to bring.

DeadlyBossMod/BigWigs type plugin: An add-on that was made in WoW which tracks boss timelines, and has countdowns with alerts for when mechanics are going to happen during fights.

Buff & Debuff Tracker: Would let you edit the current buff & debuff bar which would let you filter what you'd like to track. Or create a new bar that lets you add specific buffs you'd like to see separately.

I think these on top of most of the default plugins in runelite would be an amazing start. As well as the usual mentioned clue solver, quest helper, menu entry swapper, Ground items and markers, etc.

If I absolutely had to choose... best would be "An Unexpected Journey" because it's the beginning. The worst would be "The Grey Havens" because its the end.

I’m always curious about this argument. In WoW, having multiple characters under one sub makes sense because it has different races and classes you can play. Along with only being able to have 2 main professions per character.

In RuneScape, 1 character can do everything in the game. Sure you can make an Ironman or snowflake account but that character still has access to all combat styles, skills, weapons, etc.

I also think people on here assume if they put multiple characters under 1 sub like WoW then they’d be able to multi log them all which I don’t think would be the case. They’d still make it so you can only login to one character per sub.

Not to mention think of the amount of time you spend in game and content you get vs how much you pay is more than worth it. Even if you only spent 1 hour a day playing you’re only paying roughly $.50 per hour you’re playing. Which let’s be honest, most people on here are probably playing more than an hour a day lol

I always recommend people to try both. I switch between the two and find them both enjoyable in their own way. I think both games have massive grinds depending on the type of content you want to do and different quality of life. Best you can do is try both and see which one you want to login to more. Good luck and have fun!

Part of the reason they made the change was so people were hitting 0’s less often because hitting a 0 in max gear feels bad (looking at you osrs). So instead of hitting a 0 you’d hit 80. But since they changed it so you don’t hit 0 at all they could change it back and tie your accuracy and power bonus to you min/max hits.

Hypercamb

Maybe this is a hot take, but with the whole road to restoration going on I honestly wish they would revert hp and combat numbers back to what they used to be. I never liked how they inflated the numbers; Take the 10x multiplier off of health and damage. Then it would be easier to allow people to do more damage in leagues as well.

Hypercamb

I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but on top of the billions in gear, perks, the skill reqs for prayers, elder overloads, dummies, cannonballs etc. he is also taking advantage of double xp lol don’t get me wrong it’s still some crazy xp per hour. But normal rates would be half this on a regular day.

Crazy to see though!

I didn't mean for it to come off as thinking it was something easy they could just add whenever they want. I know in the interview they said there were a lot of technical problems they ran into. But they mentioned they want to add things over time.

The reason I made the post was because wowhead only mentions adding legacy rep. And the interview doesn't mention anything specific as to what they plan to add or when. As far as I could find there is no information on it either. But like I've said in other replies, with housing being a major area of content and it requiring you to farm old legacy content; it makes sense for them to start putting more resources to expanding what's added to Warbands.

Hypercamb

That would be super nice if they added something that shows which character had the most progress on an achievement. At least until it gets out into warbands.

Hypercamb

Good idea

Hypercamb

With housing released you could say adding more legacy content to Warbands is helping new and current content. I understand it's time consuming and labor intensive, but now with housing released they are making players do legacy content based on current content. So now is as good a time as ever to start adding it.

Hypercamb

Yeah, in the interview Peter Hodge says they do plan to add other things to the Warband system but doesn't mention anything specific. Just based on what they feel makes sense and player feedback.

This was about a year and a half before they announced housing which includes a ton of legacy content. So I think now is as great a time as ever to start implementing these pieces of legacy content into Warbands to make housing decor more accessible.

So I’m somewhat of a new player so take what I say with a grain of salt. I’ve done a handful of raids with friends, but never been max light level, never tried doing solo runs. Have a couple hundred hours of play time.

Decided to pick it back up the other day and just start playing through the stories and quests chronologically. I’m not really worried about current content, doing anything competitively etc. my favorite thing in the game is the lore. The story is so deep and rich. I’ve also really enjoyed listening to my name is byff and his narrations of each expansion for better explanations.

Thoroughly enjoying it. I’m not worried about grinding any weapons or gear. It’s been great. It’s turned into the game I play to relax. I’ve seen a lot of hate for the game but I think at its core it really is an amazing game with an incredible story.

Hypercamb

This was honestly my first thought after reading the post. It sounds like they went into this looking for a reason not to play the game. I mean, if having to wait a little time to sheer some sheep, which has been mentioned you can both sheer one at the same time is the game killer for you... I don't know how you made it through osrs.

It makes me wonder how far they actually are on their osrs ironman. Because the grind and the patience needed for that game far exceeds that of RS3. And yes a huge amount of content and quests have been changed so honestly you should just go into the game with the mindset of you're learning and experiencing an entirely new game in general.

Yes its a game and everyones breaking point is different when it comes to "I'm not having fun anymore and don't want to play". But having that point be the second activity you do that takes minimal time just tells me you or your friend didn't actually want to give the game a chance.

I did see you say you plan on giving it another look which I really hope you do. Don't just spacebar through the quests. Use the wiki to help get you through them but I highly recommend the read the dialog. Learn the lore and find all the quirky things Jagex has put in. Once you get the hang of the combat system and especially once the combat update comes out I think both of you will fall in love with this game. Hope you guys enjoy the journey!

Hypercamb

Agreed. I think my favorite thing about the update is that they added a lot of daily scape items into the loot. Runes, herbs potions, items to disassemble, teci, better congealed blood. Heck they even added meat for PoF. I think this is a great step forward in the integrity changes they were talking about. Can’t wait to see what else they are cooking up; specifically with the new continent expansion next year.

Hypercamb

Sorry everyone but this is probably my fault. Com2Us saw I chose him for the choose your Nat 5 event and had to immediately make his S3 worse. Apologies to anyone else who already had him.

Hypercamb

I purchased almost the exact same one (mine is 1TB storage and 48GB ram) which arrived the other day and finished getting it all setup yesterday. I still can’t believe the performance to size ratio. Coming from a big pc tower which would turn into a jet plane at certain points this thing handles like it’s nothing. Waiting is indeed the hardest part but 100% worth it.

Hypercamb

I’m the same way. I have 23k cooked sharks in my bank and anytime I use some I’m worried about running out. 😂

Hypercamb

Yes I did and am going through the same thing right now. Originally placed the order for the Space Grey headphones December 2nd. Was supposed to get them December 6th. Got pushed to the 8th. Then the 11th and now it says the 13th. From the 3rd to the 9th the only scan it had was that it had left the shipper facility on the 3rd. Was going to try for a refund (was also getting semi buyers remorse) but then I saw an updated scan on the 9th saying it arrived at a carrier facility and was delayed in transit. Was starting to lose hope until I finally saw a scan this morning saying it finally arrived at a carrier facility in my city. Hoping it doesn't take the next 3 days to get to me when its supposedly in my city right now...

Edit: forgot to mention the seller was Amazon Resale.
