Light Grey - Capacity - The max output of a power grid Dark Grey - Generation - What you're actually producing in terms of energy Orange - consumption - the current power usage of your machines on the grid (machines not running use less power, trains use variable amounts of power at any given time, etc) Blue - Max consumption - If every machine connected to the grid is running at 100%, this will be the demand on your power supply

The Last Jedi. Derided online for reasons that always felt, to me, like someone was parroting something they read about it and couldn't see the forest from the trees.
It gave the mainline franchise a new look at the force, the nature of good and evil, a peek behind the curtain to a new set of all too real villans, and really added to the dark vs light conflict in both our main force using characters and said that greatness doesn't come from lineage or houses, but what you do.
But the deeper exploration of theme hit a brick wall over seemingly trivial reasons.

I enjoyed Kostner's post apocalyptic work. I love the setting of The Postman and Waterworld. Also, Mad Max and select titles of the Fallout series.

Everyone else mentioned line of sight, but also remember that if they're engaged in melee they also won't fire.
Spread em out a bit and if you can, move them to the sides of back of the unit you want to fire at while they're locked into melee with your front line. Having a hero on foot grab the attention of enemy units also works well, since one small unit isn't blocking the sight of the regiments swarming it... just as long as there's nothing else in the way, that it
IKillButerflies
So, I might have your answers.
Melee tends to be a lot slower than cav. Dwarves even more so. If the cav got far enough away or your units lost sight of it, they'll get confused or consider the order done. Can't chase what ain't there.
For gunpowder units you need a clean line of sight to your target. Bows can shoot over friendly units but guns fire in straight lines and won't fire into friendly units. If you want your Blunderbuss units to fire, you should move them to the side or behind an enemy unit that's locked into combat with your front line or have your front line stand at an angle that gives your ranged a clear shot. Otherwise they'll try to get closer for a good shot and typically that leads them into melee
I hope that's your answer. Clarify more if I've gotten something about your situation wrong
IKillButerflies
Is it a gunpowder unit? I know they get really wonky with line of sight issues.
As for the melee units, I've had instances where a single model gets caught in combat and it derails my orders. I know you said that's not what was happening, but without a replay or video to watch I can only ask the basics. Game does bug out from time to time, but it seems somewhat rare
IKillButerflies
Is skirmish mode on for your ranged? That sounds like the actions of a ranged unit with skirmish

I can understand the viewpoint from a newcomer perspective. If you want access to everything in 3, that's a hefty price tag. Hell, up until recently, that was the barrier to entry (base games only) to even be able to play IE, the best part of wh3.
I remember buying wh2 and hearing all the hype about ME. It still took me a while to buy 1, and I don't regret it, but I remember the feeling of not wanting to drop all that extra for a game mode.
Now, however, you get IE and can play the other factions' free content (imirik for the high elves) and the rest is more... DLC than game. Sure, you're gonna drop a lot of cash for WH2, but you're getting a big roster to expand your play options. You're not excluded from any game modes, just playable races or lords.
Yes, it's still a lot to ask if you want everybody, but just pick and choose or slowly add bit by bit if you find yourself enjoying the game and want more. Oh, and wait for a sale.
Wh3 I've found to be very fun on its own. All the old content carried over has just been a major boon for me. I think I got my money's worth from Kislev alone

Ink and paper? An engineer after my own heart! I got a notebook I run numbers in on my bus rides home from work

Had something like this happen yesterday. Leveled up and got a point in +rank. Recruit then get the skill, rank 0. Skill then recruit, rank 1. Probably same for buildings or tech

Team Rocket, blasting off again!

Is it, though? Or is it more psychological than mystical? Follow me on this.
How many outs did Walter White have during Breaking Bad? For a massive chunk of the show he could have stopped at any time. He became addicted to the power of being the kingpin of the ABQ and its his undoing. No magical force necessary.
Now let's look at Dooku. He's a Sith apprentice, sure, but he's not in it for the power. He's where he is due to ideology. My man ain't force choking and spitting lightning left and right. He's fighting for a cause and using whatever tools necessary to achieve his goals. The Dark Side itself or a lost for power isn't his trap.
Now let's look at the Jedi. Indoctrination of infants, mind control powers and a religion that became about the letter, instead of the spirit of the rules. They fell because they refused to believe they could do wrong. Hell, Anakin turned because the Jedi taught abstinence only instead of proper sex ed. That's metaphor, yeah, but shit's true. They were so used to power they never looked in a mirror to see how they'd corrupted it until it was too late.
So it's not the force itself, but us.
IKillButerflies
I see it like how Luke explained it in TLJ. The force is just the force and its how sentient beings use it that defines it. The Dark Side is just the corrupting force (pun!) that comes alongside the more aggressive uses of force powers. Yes, they tend to draw from anger, but anger isn't inherently bad either. A lack of control over your anger is. Tapping into anger too much is dangerous, but some good ole fashioned righteous fury can make the world a better place.
So Kylo wants to do these Dark Side things, but he's a Skywalker. He knows, deep down, its wrong. Maybe if he commits an unforgivable sin he'll stop feeling conflicted. Stab dad, and... nope. Can't take out mom... overwhelming guilt outweighs the inwardly directed anger and now we're Light Side again.
We split the atom. Some of us used it to generate power for millions. Some of us made the atomic bomb. Harnessing the power of the atom isn't good or evil. It's how we choose to wield that power that's good or evil.

I get a very strong sense that there's a widespread lack of media literacy. Subtext, themes, or even small cues given by actors (or animated characters) go over people's heads way too regularly.
If it's not expressly stated in no uncertain terms, then it seems to get missed. And even then we often forget about things like The Unreliable Narrator or that people in the story can lie or be flat out wrong. Those can be good things in some stories!
Instead... whoosh right over their heads
IKillButerflies
The whole season has a smaller throughline. It's about breaking free and then what do you do after that. The main chunk of the Scooby Gang is breaking free of Cid's grip after coming to terms with the idea that she didn't care for them, while also staying hidden from the Empire after breaking from them and figuring out the question that's underpinned a lot of the episodes so far... what next once the soldiering is done.
Crosshair is now coming to terms with his decision to stay and how that was the wrong one. He is definitely ready to break away from the Empire.
There's also a lot of 'found family' theming happening with the whole cast.
It's not a 'find the mcguffin' or 'kill this dude' overarching plot and more of a 'finding a purpose after the rug was pulled out from under you'.
IKillButerflies
First and foremost, be ready for an uphill battle.
Set yourself up for success. Fill your armies and bust out as many lords as you can. They're strength rank 3, so they've got armies to throw at you for days. Move in packs of at least 2 to increase your odds of low casualty wins. Pick an angle to attack from and try to sweep up as much territory as you can before they turn their full attention to you. Any turf you get, throw down walls. If you get to t3 walls, you buy yourself time to defend any captured territory.
There's a lot of land to cover and you're gonna have a rough time until da boss even starts to feel it. Make sure there's no WAAAG going on so their armies aren't all 40 units big. Hold as many cities as you can. Walls, public order and an army building is a good idea, as you can increase your good units available and have the cities be somewhat 'set it and forget it'.
Outside of that, try to pick favorable engagements and good luck on the battlefield.
IKillButerflies
It's where you've got your units in square formation and placed on the map like you would setting up a game of checkers. It gives decent support for ranged units and clear firing lines from many angles.
It's not a guaranteed win formation, but it does have solid advantages for ranged focused armies. Doubly so if you get flanked, since the inner units in the formation just need to turn slightly to aid any units being attacked on the flanks and they'll have clear shots to a decent chunk of the enemy forces
IKillButerflies
Thank you. Comically enough, this win gave me too big an ego and I got crushed with a slightly better army against a single TK army/garrison that had much better units. I should not have taken on that engagement...
Oh well. There's always more peasants.
IKillButerflies
Yeah, but 3k trash units are still worrisome by sheer volume. If ya don't play it right, you can lose by attrition. Plus, with all trash, there's not much to focus on to tilt the balance of power. You've got to engage with the meat grinder head on.
Sure, my cav can melt a unit. But with 40 they can get hung up on or surrounded by? I got lucky it was mostly trash.

I work super late Mon-Thurs. I'll pass it along once I'm in front of my laptop again. Unless you can just do a name search, then it's the same as here.
Fair warning. 3 kids. My attention might need to move to them from time to time, so please have patience.
IKillButerflies
I max out at hard/hard and even then it takes a few campaign dumps to wrap my head around how a faction functions. I was trying Nurgle for a bit and 3 restarts into them after understanding how they work a bit better, I needed a pallet cleanser. Hence the REPANSE!!!! sideways photo that everyone is ribbing me for.
At best, I'd say I'm okay at this game. Still, I'd like to see how other people play. Never know where you'll learn new tricks
3 - Vampire Coast, because who doesn't love the 1812 Overture?
2 - Tomb Kings, since they play so differently than any other faction (even the other undead factions) and the Ubsabti are SO much fun to watch thwip armies from a mile away
1 Skaven! Yes Yes! Too bad they're just a silly rumor that simpleton peasants spread. Giant ratmen lurking around in the catacombs under our great city? Preposterous!
