LOVED Massaro's work (I am a nurse in outpatient surgery) but I'm pretty sure he doesn't practice anymore

I check-off nursing students on their skills before they're allowed to perform them on real people (injections, IVs, med administration, etc). I also facilitate simulated scenarios that are part of the nursing curriculum on-campus with manikins as patients.

Def make less $ than the hospital, but this job is way more flexible with my young kids!

NTA
I'm a nurse educator and it's 100% your choice who gives you an injection. However, it would be a great learning opportunity for the student if you could speak to your concerns, past pain, and general feeling about the medication/injection. This could help them work on patient communication and empathy. Also allowing a student to educate you about/explain how a medication works along with risks and benefits is helpful to their education, even if the older experienced nurse is the one who actually gives the med.

Semi fail: I think I made them too big and some of the filling leaked out. I def would refrigerate the dough prior to baking next time!

The Dairy Queen by my house. The employee very quickly hit the "add tip" button while I swiped to give herself a 20% tip. It was only about $2 but still - that's stealing!

All the plastic and extra stuff you buy today will be in a landfill destroying the planet when your child is grown. Consuming less now helps to protect your child's future!

I haven't had any sales in December - I used to average about 5-7 sales per week. Also, I'm looking for a dress (formal wedding) and the search results are all TEMU junk I would never buy or dresses that are not in my size. The search is terrible now!

In Wisconsin my kids have recess outside unless it's below 0 degrees (Fahrenheit). We are instructed to leave snow pants at school all week and the kids bring them home on the weekends for washing.

Flew out yesterday morning-TSA was the longest I've ever seen at MKE but still only took about 30 minutes

In high school (before iPhones were a thing) my mom asked me to drop off our cockapoo, Jose, at doggie daycare. I didn't exactly know how to get there but had a rough idea of where it was. My mom said "don't worry, Jose will show you how to get there" and sure enough he did!

Kids! My kids' clothing (except underwear and socks) is 100% from the bins. Now I don't get frustrated if something gets stained because I know it only cost me about $0.50!

I worked with a urologist named Dr. Bush. His son came to work at the same hospital as a gynecologist. The two of them would say that the family treats all bushes.

I'm in Milwaukee and have two children. I don't think I have ever been to a dry kids birthday party.

Usually sell 1-2 items per day. Nothing since Wednesday!

This! I am faculty now (after 12 years bedside) and as full-time faculty I'm making 20k less than I did at the hospital BEFORE ANY OVERTIME. If you add in overtime, I'm clearing about 32k less than I was at the bedside.

When I started in the ICU as a new nurse (12 years ago) the hospital paid for me to take critical care classes and also paid the nurse precepting me a couple bucks an hour on top of her base salary for training me. Now, hospitals do not pay preceptors extra and don't offer critical care classes due to cost.

Travel- summer vacation for the kiddos this year was camping one weekend and 1 night at a local hotel (with a pool) that we got for free with CC points. Thankful our kids are still young enough that they think staying in a hotel is super fun.

Nurse here who can offer a healthcare perspective: I have been working in ICUs for over 10 years and in the past year or so people have become way way more concerned with paying for their care - they often ask me how much something (treatment, medication, etc) will cost. I never had anyone ask about cost in the past. These are people who have good jobs, don't smoke, rarely drink and have insurance. They have a bout of bad luck that ends them in the ICU and instead of focusing on healing they are worried about finances. It's really quite sad. So I guess I do see the discontent from a cost of healthcare perspective. People are paying hundreds per month for insurance that doesn't cover all of their care in the ICU when they need it the most.

Personally, as someone working in healthcare full-time for over a decade I would much rather wait for certain types of care (like they do in Canada and the UK) knowing that I could access quality emergency care when needed and not have to constantly stress about paying for it.

Nurse here: walked in on my ICU patient who was admitted for a HYPERTENSIVE CRISIS snorting lines off his bedside table. Swore he was just checking to see if everything in his room was properly cleaned and wanted to smell for bleach.
