I like it! I will often lay out materials for the kids to play with that match the project Gabby is doing or the theme of the episode. Or if I don’t have time in the moment, we might try to make that craft/recipe later. IMO screen time isn’t really screen time if it is interactive.
(But even to passively watch, it is a cute show)

That’s because Danny Elfman is a great composer

I like how even though they didn’t have to be, all of the replies are about food 😅
ImpressiveView2
This is me with pickles right now 😩 But I did stop eating them…mostly…
ImpressiveView2
The holiday armadillo for me is the single funniest moment in the series 😂😂

This is great advice

This question always stresses me because how do I know which memories came first chronologically? I always just answer with a memory I have of playing on my lawn but I honestly have no idea. If I try to, I can’t remember anything from my preschool years. It’s only when random stuff reminds me…

It’s fair to ask, but the “standards” of today are really only appropriate for maybe the top 30% of kids (just my observational estimation). It’s unreasonable to expect that of all kids and they can still become great readers and students if they learn that same stuff at 6yo. Just follow your kid’s pace basically and make sure learning is more enjoyable than stressful.
ImpressiveView2
I remember doing exactly that with the letters in kindergarten. Nowadays the standard requirements have gotten way out of hand. Yes, some kids are ready to read as early as 3yo, but as a standard, it shouldn’t be expected until 1st grade.

I was about to say, this describes me with autism. But Jake is definitely ADHD.
ImpressiveView2
Too many to count 😂 At this point it’s like the Simpsons where the characters’ backstories reset at the beginning of each episode.
ImpressiveView2
There definitely needs to be nuance to this. Or “I love you” can lose all meaning or become a twisted meaning. You can say it, but you also have to show it, but during and after a tough piece of feedback.
ImpressiveView2
Then they don’t get to bake 🤷🏼♀️

What I can’t stand is people using it for petty disagreements. Like Karen’s who threaten to call over any inconvenience or someone not seeing things the same way. To be fair, I see this way more on TV than in real life 😅
ImpressiveView2
Because the OP said they are not counting her as part of the core group.
ImpressiveView2
Correct. That’s why I am very different in “aunty” mode vs “mom” mode.
ImpressiveView2
Oh your kids’ favorite game is “talk” too? 😅
ImpressiveView2
I love that he listened. Good for you!

I’m pregnant right now with our first and this is currently my top concern. We have fostered before, but we always knew that a break was coming eventually. With a biological child we are on the clock for the foreseeable future 😳

No one can convince me that’s not a fancy restaurant 😩🦞
ImpressiveView2
I didn’t know that was a real restaurant 😅 I thought it was made up for Young Sheldon. I live on the east coast..
ImpressiveView2
I was the opposite. I had extremely high expectations (even the pope said it was his favorite show!) but I tried to watch it two different times and couldn’t get through the first season. I can’t remember what happens but I remember it having a lot more inappropriate stuff than I expected.
ImpressiveView2
Watching this with no sound just gave me flashbacks to what it felt like to fall in love with my husband and find out that he felt the same way 🥰🥰😩 I had forgotten that magical feeling.
ImpressiveView2
Am I the only one who doesn’t side with Larry while watching this show? 😅 To be clear, I think the people around him are crazy as well. I don’t find the show relatable because I don’t know so many people that get so easily offended and confrontational as he has surrounded himself with, but I like to watch it just to inoculate myself against cringe 😋
Related to this, we never fold their clothes… I don’t get the point? We toss them into sorted stacked bins so they can just pick a shirt, an underwear, and a pant from each bin and they are on their way. Oh, and I guess we don’t care about matching clothes either, although they do a surprisingly good job putting outfits together for preschoolers. And their clothes are never wrinkly!
