In Blackflame, the Blackflame Trials aren't just Lindon learning Blackflame techniques (that is just window dressing/backdrop), it is mostly Lindon and Yerin learning how to work together and bonding. And after a bonding experience is done, the book jumped away to Eithan or Jai Long who were acting with more agency for that book.

It is also important to remember that Cambria's blessing only works while on Cambria's Wall (which is part of the impetus to expand the wall).

When used, the blessing halts aging of the subject for a specified amount of time (been a while since I read the book, so I don't know how long it is). Leaving the Wall continues using up that halt time enough though aging is no longer suspended until the subject returns to the Wall.

I imagine that the people that do attempt to convert a blessing into a boon just bought an extra blessing on top of the ones they use to suspend their own aging. And then just work on converting their extra blessing to a boon so they can stop buying their own halted-aging blessings.

Blessings are single use, even if they have a duration. Using it removes it before it can become a boon.

Turning a blessing into a boon involves carrying the blessing and passively feeding soul stuff energy to it so it can thicken into a permanent boon.

Seems more like they found a single vertebrae.
