And is superior to the Steam version, in that you don't ever have to worry about the Steam client overwriting your 4gb patched game exe.

If you decide to play Sword of the Stars. Read through these posts, for the 4GB Patch and how to set the game to only use a single core. Which will improve the performance of the game. The other post is a bunch of useful new player tips.

For those looking for the actual page of products mentioned above. OP please post the direct link when you make a post like this. Humble only displays a limited number of it's currently running book/software bundles on it's page. Unless you have the direct link to it, it's almost impossible to find, by just browsing or searching the site. Thanks for the heads up.

In Sword of the Stars 2, pulsing, beacon-style effects highlight locations of interest that sensors or exploration can pick up. Common examples, seen both in combat sensor view and as map cues include:
- Command monitors / asteroid monitor bosses in asteroid belts.
- Swarm queens.
- Morrigi relics or similar special sites.
- Other random encounters or temporary events that can be investigated by sending a survey, science, combat fleet.
These aren’t always permanent colonies or fleet. You often need to send ships into the system, or use a science station/better sensors, to fully reveal and interact with them. The pulse lasting a few turns is consistent with time limited or gradually fading events.

Remember to manually select $23 if buying all of it. Humble will scammily set it to a higher amount by default.

Never, these late month or email codes are only for the previous month Sept. An Oct. Choice usable code, would only be issued late Oct.

I fully support this requirement. The endless posting of jank and vaporware self promotion, it out of control all over Reddit.

Bought it with the $8.50 email code. Even if it's just for Frostpunk 2, that's a 81.11% discount.

I think it's well worth it at $2.99. Some people want perfect AA games for .50c

Distant Guns
"But now in my dreams, besides the sounds one always hears at sea,
I hear the mutter of distant guns, which call and call to me..."
There has been discussion of Distant Guns in a September 4 thread. Not sure how many folks have seen that thread, so here's the state of things:
Earlier this year, one of the cofounders of Albireo / Storm Eagle Studios passed. Ongoing expenses associated with the server back end of the StormPowered client were suspended and that back end has been unavailable for some time. The LLC and associated interests will be tied up in probate for years. I have a 30% interest in the company, and as the sole remaining member I can do reasonable things with the games - keeping in mind the value of any interests. It's complicated, and I can't promise to touch Jutland or Bismark for legal reasons. Distant Guns, though, I have a bit more freedom with.
I have a bit of a fetish for the Russo-Japanese War, so I'm not letting this thing go.
If curious, check out Chris Irwin's September 4 post for additional information.
I have reworked Distant Guns to be standalone, server independent, and - though rights remain reserved - available for anyone to play. There isn't really a way to check for existing licenses, so grab it if you're interested.

Though this was originally a commercial project, it is now a hobby project, so no promises regarding how long I may have to take to fix any issues. I plan to fix whatever pops up, consider comments, etc., until this seems stable as is. Then I'll be moving on to the DX9 > DX12 rework, etc.
The support email is [email protected]. I probably won't check it this weekend, but will monitor beginning next week."

I realize you already checked off Settlers. But there were a ton of versions of it, over 25 years. Possible one of them? Also as you can see, Mobygames has a pretty decent search engine. To search games by year, platform, genre.

Give these four a look.

Playing in the various sphere shaped galaxies can be confusing in the beginning. You can select a Disk shaped galaxy in setup, that's much easier to navigate. You can also select a Scenario game with 1-4 players, that have much smaller and in some cases, a flatter galaxy. They are good to learn the game with. Such as A New Hope, Tourney Space and Progression Wars. Like most older games, reading the manual will go a long way, to teaching the basic gameplay. The manual is installed along with the game files and is also available on the Steam home page and as a download in the GOG download extras.
There are some old playthroughs on Youtube. You can watch them, to see some early gameplay. Just search for them.
