Rant: Snowmaking from your Phone is a terrible idea and everybody who has implemented it should feel bad. (self.snowmaking)

I got great respect for HKD products especially seeing they’ve been improving on their issues every generation. Valve blocks, Air/water guns, hydrants, interface systems, fans. The only products of theirs I hate aren’t actual theirs. Specifically, the Demaclenko garbage that seems just as useless as TA’s products.

InheritDistrust

Theirs more than a few particularly vile responses in this thread where people actually do say bloodthirsty and hateful things about Catholicism

InheritDistrust

It was nice while it lasted.

I’m going to level, I’m just grateful that /r/atheism hasn’t flooded in shouting about how he somehow deserved it yet.

Apparently another version of this article is front page for them so I don’t believe that state of affairs will last.

InheritDistrust

You will live to see manmade horrors beyond your comprehension.

InheritDistrust

Oh no, the automations fine, but the idea that checking it all from your phone is your primary interface is terrible, as is the idea you can somehow just leave the multi million dollar system unsupervised because of automation.

As far as I know every major snowmaking system manufacturer has this program so yes, this is a callout to you SMI and HKD. I’d call out TechnoAlpin too but I’m pretty sure they’ve already given up all hope of competency.

InheritDistrust

Spoken by them as if its a cultural problem and not a problem of development outracing law enforcement.

InheritDistrust

Look, if America held him accountable they’d have to hold everybody involved in the Bhopal Disaster accountable and that aint never happening.

InheritDistrust

Oh, with the diaspora its still cultural trauma, but different cultural trauma because basically all of us in the diaspora have ancestors who found their way to wherever we are now because someone, at one point in history or another, decided we were all better off dead or gone.

I agree that its hard not to look at much of the rhetoric going around, get very worried, and then view the country that is promising to act as a safe haven as a necessary place to support because none of us want to be caught without options if the worst comes to pass.

Heck, I’m legitimately worried about it myself, its just that I view the alternative of Israeli security as conceding to guarantee that the violence will never end, but at least we will be on the side with the big guns.

We’re talking past each other here. I’m not referring to fear of the outsider which is its own can of worms, I’m referring to the very real visceral fear of people who are actively killing or talking about killing you.

While this applies to BOTH Israelis and Palestinians in this specific context it falls true for driving many people into the arms of terrible actors over many centuries. I’ve personally compared the Israel-Palestine crisis most to the Rwandan genocide in terms of two ethnicities fundamentally damaging each other to the point one is still hunting the other to this day.

Israeli companies owning land in NYC?

I think you missed the point here. It is human, regardless of tour beliefs or ethnicity, to circle the wagons when you are being threatened by an outside force. It is also sadly very human to sacrifice morality for the perception of safety. This is what drove Palestinians to Hamas, an organization that uses them as human shields due to Hamas being the only major organization that gave them a plan for their safe and prosperous future. This is what drove America into the War on Terror after 9/11 when people with ulterior profit motives promised that everything would be safe after we burned a few countries and tortured countless people, and this is what drives terrified Jews towards the country that promises to fight anything that’d attack them.

Theirs countless other examples, this is a tragedy but its not a unique one sadly.

Now thats some bullshit. I know as a fact the antisemites will rip me apart as fast as they would any other Jew. I know I will not be rewarded for my stance and that people like you are going to say crap like that.

Doing the right thing and supporting my people and their survival is difficult as Hell and it means walking a line between people like you who spit on me and people like the antisemites who would kill me. But the alternative is sacrificing my soul and everything I, my ancestors, and Judaism stand for so that we can sleep a little better at night knowing that armed men with guns will shoot anyone who threatens us, might one day threaten us, or is even vaguely related to the people who might threaten us.

I will not allow my ancestors who fled the Pogroms and the Holocaust to have their legacy stained with the blood of the innocent as we gleefully carry out the same atrocities on a whole new generation of victims.

Call me suicidal, call me Uncle Tom, call me whatever the hell you like. At the end of the day people like you have decided to build your legacy over a Mass Grave and I refuse to have any part in it. My ancestors have lived for thousands of years in the Diaspora and my descendants can wait a few thousand more.

I’m not even sure if Mamdani could legally do such a thing. State and local officials do not write international policy and from an US federal government perspective Israel is not doing anything wrong. Theirs about a 99% chance if he passed such an order literally all he’d do is piss off powerful lobbyists and waste taxpayer money losing a subsequent court case.

Note this isn’t me supporting Israel here, just that currently the federal government does and that reality unfortunately matters in terms of what Mamdani can do. Its the same reason he couldn’t arrest Netanyahu.

InheritDistrust

While the point you’re trying to make is true it also ignores that, as it so happens, conducting a genocide is not conducive to making friends internationally and historically tends to negatively impact the ethnicity carrying out such an act on an international scale. See the Serbians, the Turkish, the Germans, the Cossacks (those that survived being themselves genocided by Stalin), Russias current pariah status, and the view of Communism as a result of the USSRs MANY ethnic cleansing.

InheritDistrust

As an anti-zionist and proud diasporic Jew you can fuck right off with that one.

InheritDistrust

People also don’t realize that that kind of dialogue actively pushes people in Israel and even the Jewish community in America to close ranks even against moral opinions because, much like with Palestinians and Hamas, it leaves the Israeli Government and its supporters as the only people discussing a future they aren’t outright dead or driven off in.

InheritDistrust

Unlikely, in the UK the police have the right to hold suspects for up to 2 weeks without charges for up to 2 weeks in the event of a Terrorism or National Security related criminal case. They released these guys on bail within 36 hours, which is inconsistent with a terrorism case but is consistent with protocol for a major theft case.

The simple way they’re handling this case is honestly the strongest evidence they don’t really think this was a plot.

InheritDistrust

People do realize that if an AED is in play basically nobody is going to assume you’re trying to get your rocks off mid crisis, right? Its generally not happy fun times for anybody when someone is actively dead or dying on scene.

InheritDistrust

If you were trained through any major organization and didn’t deviate from standard operations odds are they’re own lawyers will pop up to back you, barring that several NGOs will and barring that its STILL a borderline impossible argument unless you gave CPR to someone who straight up did not need CPR.

To be fair I did once have to step in and prevent that in an epilepsy case.

InheritDistrust

Pretty much anybody with even basic CPR training knows theirs no way in hell anybody is confused about what you’re doing in a CPR situation.

InheritDistrust

Its particularly wild because its not like its difficult to distinguish sexual assault and CPR. Sexual assault generally doesn’t tend to distinctively break peoples sternums.
