Considering its training data consists of nothing but examples of knowing something is wrong and doing it anyways, I don’t know why we act shocked. “Oh my god, we trained it on the internet, a place with CLEAR situations of knowing things are wrong and doing it anyways, and now we’re just baffled as to how it learned the behavior!?!?”

Sorry to awaken a dead thread but this is something I’m actively working on now and would love to brainstorm some ideas about the dataset if this is something you’re still working on or interested in

I had a situation where I couldn't offload any of the salesforce data to a database and had to use pbi to do everything for an hours report. Including calculating the overtime and special rates when applicable. The dax was an absolute nightmare.

It’s more important to focus on your context than the actual code. If you can’t read the code then that’s another conversation. The AI will design whatever db you want as long as you can clearly explain the design. I’ve used AIs to create entire dbs and am confident in what they created because I’ve previously created entire dbs. When writing sql with AI, you have one problem to solve that exists on each side of the equation. Context. How do you give the model enough context to properly write the query to satisfy the ask and how do I give thee mode enough context to traverse the database and grab the right tables and columns.

I created a solution that turns our business semantics into a knowledge graph type storage model. Then I designed a series of executors with the same code that drives our reports. The knowledge graph will take a json and then spit you out a json with the response. We have some restrictions as to what we allow AI to do and I personally don’t think the LLM should be allowed free rein to create and execute its own code without massive guard rails to prevent drift.

I’m probably not explaining it perfectly well overall, my goal is to control all the math and use an LLM to direct traffic.

Why not just do it through copilot? I feel like this would be easier if you kept it inside of Microsoft’s architecture.

I would try to roll the calculation up in the database if you can. I’m sure there’s a DAX way to do this but I was never able to get it able to work in a way that I was confident my date ranges were actually accurate and my SQL is much stronger than my DAX.

I solved this by using generate series and then subtracting 365 days to get a date to and date from and then looped my data through those date ranges.
