For me a bad part is how they messed up Lahore's pre-partition demographics. Lahore used to have a an about even split of Hindus + Sikhs and Muslims. In fact, most of the ruling elite in Lahore was predominantly Hindu. The series painted Lahore as filled to the brim with Nawaabs(Lahore didn't have any of its own and there were very few of those in Punjab as a whole). As for the question of Pakistan, I can understand why it was done, but to say in the mid-1940's it wasn't relevant enough is quite ignorant.

Rigging is common as the system is manual and ballot have to be cast by hand into a box that is counted at the end by election officials. These officials happen to be government employees with a vested interest in the set up of a particular party as their prospective employers. The system has massive gaps which leads to speculation it might be vulnerable.

Actually the way I believe it to be is that Pakistan has effectively got two governments running the state. The politicians and the military. The motives of the two have never ever aligned except for the case of Kashmir’s because believe it or not it still gets votes and funding. Terrorism is problematic. No one who has never lived in Pakistan knows how terrible the period between 2007-2010 was. A blast each day was the norm. Now you may believe that all this was an inside thing but there comes a point where it makes no sense to use that rationale. The terrorists hit the politicians and the military in equal measure. I can not argue much on the topic of the Mumbai Attacks but I do know that the attackers were Pakistani even if they were not backed by Pakistan. Mumbai was a terrible thing but it’s not like stuff of equal or even higher magnitude wasn’t happening in Pakistan as well. So in my opinion blaming Pakistan for terrorism is a bit unfair. Sure they may be those that have a soft corner for the Taliban and even though it is terrible idea, Taliban are something that have been deeply linked to Pakistan military since the Afghan War days. So when the current Afghan leaders give Pakistan the cold shoulder a lot of the old-guard remembers fondly the days of cooperation between the ‘two Muslim brothers’ even when religion here is used in a social sense more than a religious one.
