I think what makes Valhalla feel more repetitive than Origins, Odyssey, and Shadows is that you keep coming back to Ravensthorpe. Go out, do things for people, come back, go out, do things for people, storm a castle, fight a boss, come back, go out, do things for people, storm a castle, come back. like 15 times taking at least an hour each.

Origins you don't come back to other locations very often, constantly on the move. Same with Odyssey, you don't come back to Kephalonia or Sparta much, only back to athens like 1-2 times, mostly on the move to each new location.

Overall the main story should really only take about 60 hours which isn't all that long for an open world rpg.

What might make it feel a bit less repetitive is if it gave 2 options of where to go and it weren't super obvious by level where to go next. You're lv 20, do you want to go to the lv 22 area, or the lv 40 area? Well since I won't be able to damage anything in the 40, i guess I'll go the 20. Illusion of choice instead of go where ever you want whenever you want and the game just scales to you

I appreciate seeing people's builds. I'm not really all the detail creative, I'm more concepts guy and then go out and farm materials so others can fight with the system to achieve the desired results.

So often I just want to reach into the game and adjust things in ways that the system just won't let me do because of the focal point rotation and how X/Y/Z change so it can be hard to even see where things are going in the 3d space since you can't swing the camera without letting go of the object and resetting its positioning.

A while back I made a pretty substantial sized pyramid with internal structures and decoration that I never got around to screenshotting. Made like the entrance to a dwarven underground keep that I don't have the patience to keep fleshing out with so few decorations and reasons to build things, and have lately been working on an underground lake pirates cove in a desert area that I need to figure out how I want to post photo or even video of once I decide its finished.

Decoration and detail are not where my minimalist expertise shines. I'm just so much better at going out and getting resources for the people who are good at it.

I don't really get why people find this one so hard to get through. Are people refusing to use horses or fast travel? You go to a place, you do a few quests, you finish the zone, you go back and start a new zone. Are people like looting every single chest, catching every single fish in every foot of river, hunting every animal?

I've cleared the entire map twice, I've done all the bonus challenges, I've done all the DLC (except ragnarok, just never got around to it). It doesn't really take all that long. Maybe its those short attention spans people talk about.

There's a ton you can skip, you can really just play the main story and do a few side blue stories if you find your power level starting to drop and a few big gold chests for materials if you find your gear lagging a little.

I've done it 4 times. You just play. You do as much side content as you feel like, you progress the story, and you just keep moving forward.

What do you do when you fall off the horse? You get up, dust yourself off, and you eat that horse one bite at a time.

Places like Ever are more rare because its basically the best of the best teaching the best they can find to operate up to their standards. Openings are rare, expectations are high, you are expected to know what you're doing coming in and if you can't keep up with speed or quality and can't learn fast you may not keep the job. The kitchens are spotless everywhere they can possibly reach, their stock is organized and labeled, and they will call you out if sobriety on the job is an issue.

Places like the Beef are extremely common. Low quality standards, no coherence to the menu, poor service, but the food is still usually pretty good as long as you don't know what their actual kitchen looks like. People don't care about the daily/weekly/quarterly deep cleaning. Don't do temperature logs, don't properly rotate inventory, use ingredients past safe use because they don't think anyone will care or notice. The only time they think about health code is a week before they expect inspection. And there is a solid chance that someone or more than one is drunk or some kind of high on shift because who cares, what are they gonna do, fire me- they already can't keep a staff longer than 3 months.

Like every industry, the dime a dozen places have all the same problems that the good businesses figured out by just doing the work and paying their workers what they're worth and the price of the meal reflects that quality. The cheaper you want to buy, the lower quality you're likely to get.

Jasmine, but in the past year I've gotten really into the concept of Rodney returning for a season and meeting Scott and forming an unlikely friendship that starts with Scott using the big guy's natural abilities to help him advance in the game and ending in a heartbreaking Of Mice And Men showdown near the season's finale.

They could also consider lowering end quest exp but increase the opts. So like if a quest right now gave 15k at the end of R1, they could make it worth 10k and have 2 optionals worth 2.5k if completed. Worth the side trips, or not spend that little bit of time and just zerg to end would be the question. Players would figure the plan out quickly and choose whether they want faster or noticeably more exp

Ishvallan

can confirm from Lamordia that having opts drop unique named item absolutely does make us go out of the way for them.

he still loves her in the way people still love the parts of their ex that didn't cheat on them. But they still dug their key into the side of their pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive.

Maybe I'm missing something, but are the names on the plaques above not corresponding to the lockers below? Hard to tell from the zoomed in images, and haven't watched the show yet to know if it zooms in on the names, but the one is obviously Tori's locker, but the name in the top inner right doesn't look written like Tori Vega. And the locker to its left looks like Beck's see through door but the name doesn't look like Beck Oliver.

Do they clearly state who any of these belong to other than the obvious Tori?

random is REALLY hard for programing, especially in something like this where everything is consistent every time you play it. Same spawn locations, same chest locations, same paths, at best you get a tiny bit of variance of some aspects but they are limited in what can change each time you play them.

But dialing up the damage of the traps to be hard to survive passing through without a trapper certainly would return some of the old vibe of the game. I remember when there were quests you straight up did not enter on Elite without a dedicated trapper and healer who had raise dead.

They power creep our characters so much, but they can't power creep the threats very much without making it unplayable for the people who don't have tomes, gear, and past lives.

We're SUPPOSED to be playing on higher difficulties than we are most of the time. I could see them putting in a system where past certain numbers of reaper points, you have to play on certain skull difficulties, or when running with a party. Like a party of 6 is immediately minimum R6, and anyone over 100 RP in the party bumps it up a skull. So you get 4 people in the party with over 100 RP and its not possible to enter even heroic quests on less than R10.

I can only guess how poorly that would go with players who don't want that difficulty but still want the exp bonus of Reaper while leveling and gear hunting.

not at all, he is the one who taught the first brethren court HOW to bind her as revenge for her not showing up on his 1 day ashore. He wants her eternally punished for convincing him to take the duty of ferrying the dead with the curse that he couldn't come ashore and then failing to hold up her end of the bargain that they could be together on his 1 day.

These sections only take a few hours to complete everything on the map, so well worth doing now. But keep in mind that these ARE NARRATIVELY IMPORTANT so pay attention to the main story while you're there. Side content not as important but still cool.

From time to time, esp if the women are in a leading or main support role. But they are more often relegated to fan service eye candy set pieces even when they are like top 5 most important characters

We'll see what all changes in a few days when it launches its early version.

Most definitely sleep seems like something that needs to be added, and night needs to be dark enough to justify head lights. Day/Night longer, but hunger/thirst a bigger need to keep under wraps. Currently there is so little to the game that I find it barely even worth stopping at gas stations as it takes barely 10L of fuel and barely any water to get from station to station skipping everything in between. Just get the cans of beans and a jerry can of water and you really don't need anything else.

Hazards is the biggest thing the game is missing. Since there's no other cars, the only danger is self inflicted or poorly driving and damaging your tires- but easy to just drive around with a whole new set or two in the back instead of worrying about repair kits. There needs to be things that damage the parts of the car more than just driving in a mostly straight line indefinitely.

It feels weirdly pointless to have a bunch of types of vehicles unless they have drawbacks. Like I've seen a school bus in early release videos and that should have MUCH greater fuel consumption, take a rarer diesel fuel and be harder to find parts for to compensate for its interior size, but a basic car for low carrying capacity but higher speeds and easy to keep maintained.

Its really hard to see this game be much even when completed because its 1 road with no NPC's, minimal threats to have to interact with most of the time, slow hunger/thirst which is solved every few KM, and everything is so plentiful its not even worth stocking.

Uncooked food needs to really drop in nourishment value, but even then there is no reason to have variety if you can sustain yourself on cans of beans and random water you find at each stop. Everything is just so easy to get that there is no challenge and its not even a bother to just eat and drink once every time you stop. Its hard to capture that "last person on earth" feel if everything doesn't spoil after a few days and there ceases to be new things you can loot. Even gasoline is still perfectly usable for months in a gas can, so we're likely to finish any journey much faster than that. You could hypothetically drive around the entire world in 4 months as long as there is a North America-NE Asia land connection.

I struggle to see the game having as much time and replay value as something like Raft where at least you don't start out able to control your motion but can creatively build as you play.

This game starts you out with a fully functional vehicle and away you go no challenge to be found. Even if it started you out with barely enough gas and water (coolant added in main launch separate from water) to make it to the next landmark it will still be zero concern after 2-3 landmarks at best.

I want the game to be good, but its just so simple that it can't be anything more than like a 30-90 minute time waster until we see more than 2 directions, reason to leave the road, more difficult survival and maintenance, and a goal that really takes time to achieve but not so much that you're not skipping 90% of the content to get to it.

Ishvallan

Its definitely annoying that characters and especially enemies aren't very memorable. And the side content is so boring that there is literally an option to have the game just do the qte for you while you go do something useful. The late game combat with everything unlocked is a lot of fun, but nothing is particularly noteworthy.

I think the biggest thing the gameplay was missing was disguising to get close to targets which we got in the first target's mission and that was about it. I wanted more options like Unity and Syndicate to choose to go in quiet or loud, to have a boss fight or a unique kill with cutscene.

The multiple rings of targets are also annoying as it doesn't always feel clear why we are hunting them, and we can just stumble across them and accidentally kill them without knowing why.

Ishvallan

I recommend starting them with 2, its what really grabbed a ton of players and is still considered one of the best in franchise. If they get that confused about what happened before it, they can watch cutscenes of 1, but it doesn't hold up as well as 2 does as a game.

Brotherhood is great, revelations is ok but the ending cutscene is phenomenal so worth watching a video

Just play them in order they came out so the quality graphics and gameplay smoothness will be gradually improving.

Ishvallan

tvhm is too much for me in 2 and psq. I find the story to be too long for my taste and too bullet spongey compared to 1, 3, and 4. So doing it all AGAIN when I didn't even like any of the hunters enough to finish the story with even half of them was just too much to do it again at higher levels.

Ishvallan

Depends how you define innocent. We don't see his selection process, but he does emphasize that he doesn't trust adults and wants a society made by the youthful who hadn't yet been corrupted by greed.

He's still the villain with no qualms about ending lives, and he's only as clear and deep minded as he could be at 18 without any particular academic genius like Senku.

But he revived people he knew of and trusted to follow his vision while following his control. He needed people like Minami and Gen to help determine who lived and died, and bend them to his way of thinking.

Ishvallan

Its really complicated because in that moment Roxas and Namine are both created, but then Sora just materializes a new body later without either of the nobodies being destroyed. Its one of the earliest "we didn't think this far ahead or deeply about continuity" problems with the series.

Ishvallan

its hard to balance the game for the casuals and the people who are online daily. They have to tailor the experience more for the people paying for points, coffers, shards, subscription, expansions because they're the ones who keep up the funding for the work.
