Who is WE Cause? 😭🙏🏾

IvoryAS

Because opinions are biased by definition? (I know I'm late)

When people say "biased" they often mean politically so, but honestly even if you don't buy into the "everything is politics" sphere (a viewpoint which can be disappointingly useful in many conversations, like this or otherwise), there are only so many opinions that you can have truly free of bias... unless you want to claim that's ontologically invalid for a specific set of reasons. 😅

IvoryAS

Thank you for introducing me to this...

And one that note... *end* Viltrumite occupation! ✊🏾

IvoryAS

I feel like I know what you could mean by this, but I wanna' know what you do mean.

I mean, whenever there is a minority (or at least one that doesn't seem to have a direct genetic basis) there has to be some reason why things tend to one way or the other, regardless of of it's a conventional bell curve.

You implying "norm" means perceived as superior or something? I guess this is a matter of perspective then, because I haven't really seen being called "weird" an insult in a long time. 😅

IvoryAS

I honestly felt like asking this way more before his departure (or more accurately, step down), but even still, I think for most of Gemini's lifespan even he couldn't exert enough influence over AI to prevent the multi-trillion dollar AI racket from grubbing up the purity of their progress.

Progress that does seem to have limitations in generality without more neurobiological interpretability research (which has always been hard, even if it's increasingly becoming less impossible). I get the pain of seeing LLMs lack many forms of meta-cognition and fundamental depth, but considering how obsessively generative AI has consumed the field, I'm just glad he and others aren't just going along with that anymore, even if they aren't the best-of-both-worlds (Neruoscience + AI) meets (Industry + Acedemia) thing that made Alphafold... 🤷🏾‍♂️

IvoryAS

Oh my 🫢

IvoryAS

I don't know who you are. That's not a lack of comprehension, just a lack of knowledge._  Like I was getting at _earlier, I'm not a Ben fan but he is why I heard about this, so when you say " we closed PCS Ben had nothi into do with it", I can't tell who you are to verify that or reason how much more I want to look into this story. 😶

IvoryAS

Sorry, I'm guess I should have read more on you before engaging... "we"?

IvoryAS

Dang, twas simply ragebait, then? 🙏🏾

IvoryAS

""Slander"" so good I'll die 😭🙏🏾 (though hopefully not with the next 50 years)

Also, not gonna LARP as an OG. I got into this series on the resurgence... such a waste...

IvoryAS

"______ criticizes Trump"

"🗣️" "🧱"

IvoryAS

Honestly didn't realize that you were white, let alone that he was Arab, lol.

Though I admit, not really sure what you mean by "joking" here, as it kinda just looks like your voicing the, AFAIK correct take that him saying "I said the N word once" is dishonest. Something which most people here seem to be doing unironically. 😅 Feels like I understand him getting offended, even if I don't feel bad for him.

IvoryAS

I'm actually kind of confused on that last sentence... doing what takes away it's power? Anybody else using it or he reclamation?

And is doing so a bad thing, or are you saying it should have power, but that that power is only for us to use?  I can admit that non-black people using the N-word despite being told not to is intuitively uncomfortable (making the N-word a litmus test for people who "respect black struggles", I suppose) , but from a logical standpoint trying to reclaim it and yet not letting other people say it sounds like literally the opposite of how such things generally work and thus seems to make it easier to do harm with as opposed to harder.

IvoryAS

"What do you mean by that? 🤔" I mean... we saying that Deepseek and Kimi are some of the only one allowed to make racial comments on Asian people? 😅 (Not that that would excuse racism from Chinese people to other East Asian types...)

EDIT: Jokes aside, I do actually want to know what you mean by AI being white u/MrBackwoodHippie... Unless I'm just being ragebaited...

IvoryAS

And, insofar as it is (or, to make it a more general point, even if you think it should be one), that also means that said workers don't have any entitlement to this country because in a full-on international market, no-one does, least of all those who aren't first-comers.

It's tough, but not ultimately that surprising. 😮‍💨

IvoryAS

I'd like to see the ways in which I implied I was, let alone phrasing that makes that accusation make sense, but it honestly seems like this convo has run it's course.

Side note, simply referencing the existence of the Evangelical logic surrounding the death penalty hardly seems sufficient. I mean.. I could have been more clear on the fact that I don't see atheistic arguments for the state executions very often anymore, so my counterargument was against Evangelical logic because that's mostly the logic of the people planning and administering the executions, but I'm not LARPing as a Christian here for doing so.

My phrasing kinda meshes with their's at times because of my beliefs, but I've never gotten that accusation before, so I don't feel very compelled to follow that advise, with all due respect. 🤷🏾‍♂️

IvoryAS

I'm not a Christian. I don't have one.

IvoryAS

Honestly, I do understand, and even slightly empathize with not caring about how some things work. Despite how much I love STEM, I realize younger me had a significantly more hollow interest than was needed to push me to build stuff myself, sad as it is to say.

But what I don't get is how if you are: 1. Getting paid to spit out work on something 2. Are dissatisfied with your current station in life 3. Dissatisfied with the wider state of the world that you still don't care enough to empower yourself with the knowledge behind things work... Even conspiracy theorists feel compelled to do research, even if their epistemology is so 💩 they think an article written by a flerfer on Quora counts as something legit.  😅

IvoryAS

"Is the assumption here that the AI will be so smart it will trick us into acting against or own good????"

Considering that most of the AI industry at least LARPs as being "assistant" software, yeah. That would be a good part of it.  And the rest is presumably AI using it's cybersecurity knowledge to turn the rest of human technology into more of a weakness than a strength.

IvoryAS

It could make the click bait so good we can't tell if it's click bait until the last sentence! 😨

IvoryAS

Dang, borderline the opposite of the top reply, which may just be because you got here first. Not trying to start anything, but what do you think makes your opinions so different?

IvoryAS

Honestly thought they stopped doing that, lol.

IvoryAS

"I wanna chicken meat sandwich, please"

IvoryAS

"What did you say?"
